It’s the most wonderful time of the year, because Thanksgiving is nearly here! Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday, so I am thrilled to be joining 25 blogging friends for The Thanksgiving Tablescape Blog Hop hosted by Chloe Crabtree. If you are looking for Turkey Day table setting ideas you have come to the right place! If you are coming over from Zucchini Sisters or if you are a regular reader who is visiting today, I am so happy to have you! You will find links to all the participant’s lovely Thanksgiving tablescapes at the end of this post.
Well, when it rains it pours, literally! In between finishing up our Tiny Powder Room Makeover for the One Room Challenge and being swamped with work for my graduate level Christian Ministries/Biblical Studies courses, I somehow managed to set a lovely tablescape for this hop. After putting all the finishing touches on the table everything was almost ready for photos but there was one thing missing…the sunshine! Instead we have been having lots rain and dark, dreary skies.
Since I like to use lots of candles for Thanksgiving I decided to just “go with it” and give you a little sneak peek of the table by cozy candlelight. I plan to take more photos on the next bright and sunny day, so I will share all the little details of the tablescape in a new post, hopefully early next week.
Here are few things you can look forward to seeing when I share more of this pretty Thanksgiving tablescape next week.
Thanksgiving Dough Bowl Centerpiece
I switched out the French farmhouse basket tray that I had been using as a centerpiece since early spring with my favorite dough bowl for the holiday season. It is filled with a mix of velvet pumpkins and real mini-pumpkins and gourds along with many other beautiful natural treasures.
Queen’s Majestic Turkey Transferware Plates
Here you can see just a bit of my favorite Turkey transferware dishes. I found them last year at Tuesday Morning for a bargain. They are so perfect for the holiday and I plan to use them every Thanksgiving for years to come.
Tips for Creating a Thanksgiving-to-Christmas Tablescape
I used a gorgeous realistic faux cedar garland as the base filler for my dough bowl display which will easily transition into Christmas.
Traditional and Elegant Thanksgiving Place Settings
This year I am enjoying a “golden harvest” place setting. I love the mix of the vintage amber glass with the gold chargers, gold flatware and traditional fall plaid placemats.
Mini-French Urns with Fresh Garden Herbs and Fall Flowers
My favorite mini-French urns are filled with aromatic fresh herbs from my herb garden and a few fall mums and pansy blossoms. I will have to remake the little bouquets for Thanksgiving Day but my herb garden is still going strong so that won’t be a problem. I can’t wait to take some more pictures of the urns and fresh herb bouquets on a sunny day!
Vintage Thanksgiving Treasures
You will definitely see more vintage Thanksgiving treasures next week like this beautiful vintage “Thanks-giving Wishes” post card. By the way, I have a couple of Thanksgiving wishes. First, I do wish that you will take a “rain check” and come back again next week to see more photos of my Traditional and Elegant Thanksgiving Tablescape. I will share a few other ideas and vintage Thanksgiving inspiration on Nov. 19th for a fun Thanksgiving Blog Hop too!
I also wish for you to have a blessed and very happy Thanksgiving!
I hope have been intrigued by this sneak peek of my Traditional and Elegant Thanksgiving Tablescape by Cozy Candlelight and that you are excited to see more next week. If you missed any of the other creative Thanksgiving Tablescapes that were shared all this week you can still check them out via the participant link list below.

November 8, 2019 at 6:36 amGorgeous dough bowl centerpiece, Amber, as well as those tiny urns full of your herbs and flowers. I see no need for apologies in how the lighting turned out on your table, it’s beautiful! Do tell where the faux cedar garland comes from, it looks so real. I love it. I love using cedar garland, and even though it does hold up for a really long time, I hate when it turns brittle.
