Stunning Vintage Art Deco Chalkware Lamp and a Late Summer Vignette

Hello dear friends! Can you believe how quickly August is passing by? Before we know it fall will be here. Since I will be returning to teaching next week, I took some time this weekend to de-stress by putting together a late summer-to-early fall vignette in the dining room. Recently I purchased a stunning vintage Art Deco chalkware lamp at my favorite antiques shop, so I wanted to come up with a vignette that featured the lamp and a few other recent junkin’ finds.

When I saw this photo on Thistle Patch Vintage Garden and Antiques FB page, it was love at first sight! The next day I headed to the shop and bought the lamp. I paid full price because I felt like $36 was an amazing deal on such a unique piece.

These glamourous ladies are chipping with charm! They evoke the glamour of the mid-century stars of the silver screen.

I had been wanting a soft light for the vintage chest in the corner of our dining room, so the lamp is perfect. The chest has become my favorite place to style seasonal vignettes and I enjoy the challenge of coming up with interesting designs.  I switched out my layered white frames and mirrors that I had been using since spring for my very old brown and gold ones for fall. The octagonal frame is one of my Mid-Summer Junkin’ Finds that I also purchased at Thistle Patch. The frames have the most beautiful colored flowers on them which look so pretty grouped with the lamp since they are similar to the flowers the ladies are holding up.

I think the lamp will work beautifully for all the seasons with some creative styling using other vintage seasonal treasures.

The beautiful floral painting with was a recent $5 Habitat Restore score. It has one of those plastic vintage frames, but it really fools the eye and I like the gold, so I decided not to chalk paint it. I thought it was just perfect for August since my Rudabeckia (black-eyed Susans) are in full bloom right now. A stack of vintage books in late summer/early autumn colors is topped by a tower of thrifted vintage dishes that have beautiful late summer colors in their designs.

These pretty bowls were .50 a piece at Habitat Restore. I love the transitional seasonal colors of pink, yellow, purple and orange. All of these colors are in my August cottage garden.

I pulled these saucers out of my china cabinet for this vignette. The design is a bit art deco with the black and gold rim and the style. The other colors are like those of late summer, so the saucers tie in beautifully with everything else in the vignette.

I also scored an inexpensive, orange vintage school book to start bringing in some autumn colors in vignettes.

In case you didn’t know, August is National Peach Month, so right now I am all about peaches! The peach under the cloche is faux because the real peaches are too good not too eat!

I also found this beautiful vintage cameo style picture at Habitat. The fabric is literally decomposing, so I am going to try to match it up with some fabric at Joann to replace it. I love the orange for fall and will definitely be using this sweet little picture in my fall decorating.

I did some searching around online and found some other rare and interesting Art Deco chalkware lamps. This one is also very pretty! A lot of the old lamps like these are even more sensual and a bit creepy in my opinion, but I think my pretty ladies are gorgeous and not too racy.

I really had fun putting together this vignette for late summer! The lamp will probably be in this spot for quite a while and will just change out the treasures around it. I have scored many unique treasures on my junkin’ adventures over the years, but I really think this lamp is among my favorite finds.

I hope you have enjoyed seeing some more of my late summer treasures and how I styled them in a vignette that will easily transition to fall. Have you begun to add early fall touches to your home? I love hearing from you, dear readers!

Thanks for visiting today!

Amber, your late summer vignette is beautiful and perfect for this time of year! I love your new Art Deco lamp. It looks like you got a great deal on it, and it looks so pretty with your display. I adore how you placed the stack of sweet vintage plates on your books. I’m going to borrow that idea. It looks great and adds so much interest and texture. Good luck on the new school year. Take care and stay well, sweet friend!

Wow! Did you know it was a lamp before you read the description on FB? You find the best stuff. Or maybe I find it and don’t have the fun and creative eyeballs like you? Either way, love looking at your treasures!
