A Vintage September Vignette with Thrifted Pretties (and a Little Extra Fall Inspiration)

Hello friends! Wow is September flying by! At the beginning of the month I created a vintage September vignette with some of my thrifted pretties above the faux mantel in the dining room. In a few days I will be changing up the mantel to give it even more of a fall feel, but I thought you might enjoy seeing how it is looking presently.

A beautiful vintage September print is the centerpiece and inspiration for the vignette. I thrifted the picture at a yard sale along with a June, February, and May print last winter. They were all in plain faux wood frames so I decided to take each of them out of the original frames and display them in this beautiful gold frame during each respective month.

I am a lover of dried flowers, and late summer-to-fall is the time when I enjoy many different gatherings in my home. This pretty dried bouquet is a combination of dried flowers that I was able to salvage from a bouquet that I shared in my Summer Home Tour, and a few other flowers that I recently cut and dried from my own cottage garden.

I tied up the bouquet with a gorgeous mustard velvet ribbon and secured it with a beautiful orange cameo pin.

I also have the necklace and brooch to match the pin and use them often to add extra vintage charm to fall vignettes.

I just love this velvet ribbon so much! I found it just before Thanksgiving last year and I couldn’t resist draping it here, there and everywhere in my fall vignettes. You will definitely see it reappear in my decor all this fall too.

On the right side of the mantel shelf, a favorite vintage gravy boat with a harvest fruit motif holds a couple of vintage saucers featuring fall colors.

In September I always put my pheasant feathers on display in different ways. For this simple September vignette I am using a vintage flower frog to display the feathers, but I also like to tuck them in old trophies, ironstone pitchers or baskets.

In keeping with the fall and birds theme is a newly thrifted dish from Habitat Restore on the opposite side of the mantel. I adore the beautiful bird and fruits design! A gathering of dried botanicals picks up on the vibrant colors and adds fall texture and interest to the vignette.

The new little dish reminded me of this favorite ironstone platter in my collection. I am always attracted to vintage dishes with bird and flower motifs, especially  those with touches of autumn colors.

A pair of tarnished brass candlesticks are thrown in for vintage good measure. It doesn’t bother me that the brass and gold frame aren’t matchy-matchy. I love the combination of various golden hues for a September vignette, as that is just what I see in nature this time of year.

I hope you have been inspired by my vintage September vingette with thrifted pretties (and dried botanicals). I really enjoyed just arranging some of my various thrifted finds in new ways to create this display. On Thursday I am sharing a few more peeks around my home decorated for early fall (including a first look at my renovated kitchen-in-progress) so I hope you will stop back by! Don’t forget to party with us tonight at 7:00 p.m. EST at the All About Home Link party for tons of gorgeous (and delicious) fall inspiration too

Thanks for visiting and have a great week ahead!
