Welcome back friends to my interior decor and style series! Today I am exploring teal and sharing some way to incorporate this trendy color into our homes. This summer I had so much fun using some teal in my vignettes both inside and out.
I have been wanting to experiment with new ideas for fall color, so I have decided to carry teal on into fall as a way to update my decorating. Just look at these beautiful examples of teal mixed in with traditional fall colors:
Recently I shared a post on how to Take Your Decor From Summer To Fall Using Neutral, Brown and Yellow. I love how colors evoke moods, and how the use of colorful accessories can completely change the feel of a room seasonally. Teal is one of the most popular colors in decor today and it just seems to be so cheerful and fun, but it can still be classy and elegant.
All About Teal
Teal is a dark blue-green color, saturated and deep, similar to the middle green color. “Teal”has many color variations depending on if the green or blue is more dominant.
The bluish-green color is named after the colored area around the eyes of a bird (common teal), a member of the dark family. Teal it is taken from the name of a species that belongs to the duck family.
When many people think of teal, “aqua” also comes to mind. The bluish-green brings to mind exotic gems and tropical climates. For some others, it’s a relaxing waterfall tone in the hidden anchor.
Adding Pops of Teal With Wall Paper
There are many different types of bluish green wallpaper available, from fluid floral patterns to striking geometric designs. Teal wallpaper can really make a stylish design statement.
Tips For Purchasing Teal Furniture
Teal furniture goes better with a complimentary teal wall color or neutral color and other decorative elements. Remember that teal can be bluish-green or greenish-blue with lots of variations.
This means that the walls of your room and other elements should be colors that compliment your bluish-green furniture sets. These colors can be white, blue, green, black and white, among others.
If you decide to embrace teal furniture, consider your design goals and how many pieces of blue-green furniture you actually want to buy. Make sure that each piece fits a specific need so you don’t over do it on the teal. Having an organized list will help you finding the right pieces that are the best value for your time and money and will keep you from buying on impulse.
Tips For Purchasing Teal Furniture
If you are going to be shopping online, it can sometimes be hard to match up the correct shade of teal, as pictures are not always accurate. Choose the desired shade for your furniture using a blue-green color chart. Using a chart will help you to know precisely the right teal that best suits the color of the walls and other elements in the room where you will place your new items. If you are going to a furniture store, simply take your preferred blue-green tone to take with you to the store. You can either match up with furniture in the show room or have store sales agent help you search an online database for available items that match your shade.
Since teal shades can vary, if you are going to buy the furniture set on the website of the manufacturer or distributor you can send an image of the teal color tone you want for your furniture set so that they can help you find the right match.
Teal can be so much fun! Even just one piece of furniture painted teal can add such pizzazz. I have a neutral color scheme throughout my home, but this summer I add bits of teal in through decorative accessories. Even with fall approaching, teal is still a great choice, especially with popular farmhouse style fall decor, so I am exciting to experiment with teal later this fall.
I hope you have enjoyed exploring teal today! Are you a fan of teal? I love hearing from you dear readers!
Thanks for stopping by today!

First time reading your blog and signed up to follow. I love teal and have been adding to my decor with it. I just recently found a teal accent chair and it goes well with my blue ball jars that I have displayed on my island. I can’t resist buying the jars whenever I see them.
August 12, 2018 at 7:27 pmYou are speaking my language with this post! For years I wanted to include pops of teal, aqua, robin’s egg blue into our house and couldn’t figure out how to do it. A friend advised me to just go for it and once there were several pieces, it would all go together. She was right and we eventually phased out the reds that were the predominant color in our house. Now we are all about teal, aqua, and robin’s egg blue. We find the colors to be fresh and peaceful. Love!!
