Enjoying an All-American Summer at Thursday Favorite Things

Happy June and welcome to Thursday Favorite Things! I am so happy to be joining Katherine at Katherine’s Corner and a wonderful group of blogging friends as a co-hostess for this fantastic weekly link party for bloggers and blog readers too! If you are looking to grow your blog, make new friends, and be inspired each week, this is the place to be. *Bloggers: If you would like a chance to be featured, please leave me a comment with the number of your link up. We can’t wait to see what you have to share this week! (If you missed last week’s party you can find it here.???? To get the party started, let’s take a look at what I have been up to recently:

Cottage Garden ideas Cottage Gardens Country Gardens Vintage Junk Gardens

Yesterday for my weekly Pin Away Wednesdays series I shared highlights from my Country Cottage Garden Style Pinterest board.  If you love cottage gardens, creative uses for vintage junk in the garden, or pretty potting benches and she sheds, don’t miss this post!

At last week’s party I had mentioned that I would be sharing a garden and patio tour this week. Well, it has continued to rain nearly non-stop for the entire month and I still haven’t been able to take any more pictures to share with you. I am hoping next week will be sunny sometime so I can get some pictures and enjoy the garden. I have been moving all my potted plants to the porch to keep them from getting water-logged. The plants and flowers could really use a couple of days in a row of sunshine and dry weather!

Here is a photo from yesterday afternoon! We live on a hill and it is rare for us to get water in our front yard. Out of nowhere we just keep getting these bursts of torrential rain. The sun might come out for a a few minutes, but then it clouds over and starts pouring again. Honestly, this much rain is so bizarre for June in KY! We have only had two days without rain since the last week of May.

A Little “Free Thyme” Thrifted Basket Makeover

Last Saturday the sun did shine! I hit a friend’s parents’ living estate sale and scored several treasures including a small basket. Since the sun was shining I used the opportunity to give the basket a quick makeover and planted it up with some “free thyme” from my herb garden. Check out the post for the details and to see how easy and inexpensive it is to create a DIY herb basket.

I also scored a gorgeous antique china cabinet at the sale! Since the sun was out I came straight home from the sale and got right to work giving it a makeover too. I love how it turned out and I can’t wait to share it with you. The photo above is a sneak peek of the makeover in progress.

All this week a group of talented bloggers have been sharing beautiful and creative patriotic tablescapes. You can visit all of the tables that have been shared so far by visiting our sweet host Chloe Crabtree’s blog, Celebrate and Decorate. I will be sharing my tablescape in the morning, so I would love for you to stop back by to take a look.

Mornin, Amber. The rains! I know! We actually lost two beautiful and huge 20 year old burning bushes because of too much water. I had no idea they were so sensitive to that condition. I’m sharing a soulful piece at #43 today, inspired by a recent visit to a nearby farmstead. Being out in nature is some of the best medicine and education there is, and I have to be more intentional now about becoming still and listening to its wisdom. Wishing you peace and wellth right where you are.

Same here with the rain, it’s really crazy. It’s so hard to get good pics with it all dreary and overcast. Thanks for hosting a great party, friend!

#61 How I love all your Country Cottage Garden Style Pinterest Board pins! We don’t have all that green in Southern California. People forget that we have a desert climate for the most part. We would love some of that rain!

Love that hoop art and, of course, Sarah’s patriotic tablescape. Amber that rain is equally ridiculous here in WV, as it is in much of the country.
I’m also celebrating patriotism and freedom with a tablescape, and a special emphasis on my home of West Virginia’s 156th birthday – today!
    Thank you for co-hosting us!
