Hello everyone! Are you in the mood for some crafting? Today I am going to show you how to make some pretty DIY Five Minute French Country Lavender Pots. These adorable pots are so easy to put together and you can make several for under ten dollars. *This post contains affiliate links.
I always love to shop Dollar Tree for gardening supplies and anything I can use for farmhouse or French Country crafts. When I spotted some pretty faux lavender wrapped in burlap, I bought several right up.
The faux lavender in the terra cotta pot was cute and I knew I could easily white wash the pot, but I really loved the burlap, and I thought the lavender bundles would look more natural “planted” in some peat seed pots I already had in my craft stash.
I also picked up some jute twine and lace ribbon. I have used this ribbon and twine for multiple projects in the past and I just love them!
3 inch biodegradable seed pots
Update: There are varying sizes of these pots at different Dollar Trees depending on the region. The Dollar Tree website only offers the 2 .25 inch pots, which is not large enough to fit the lavender. You will need the 3″ size. If you cannot find the 3″ size at Dollar Tree to fit the lavender, you can also find the right size at your local Dollar General 6 for $1, or on Amazon at varying prices.
It is easy to give some age and “patina” to the pots by simply dry brushing on a little chalk paint or acrylic paint in light strokes.
It only takes a few minutes for the paint to dry and then you can simply stick the lavender down in the pots. I used a foam brush to lightly apply my Deco Art Americana Decor Chalky Finish Chalk Paint in the Everlasting shade (white). I love this chalk paint for crafting!

I wanted the pots to look really natural so I used some Dollar Tree Spanish moss to fill in the sparse areas between the lavender stems and to cover any bare spots.
To finish off my pots I just tied a little bit of the lace ribbon and jute twine around the pots.

It only took about five minutes to make these inexpensive DIY French Country lavender pots, and they are so pretty! Inexpensive + Quick + Easy + Pretty = My kind of craft project!
I finished up my pots just in time for the Vintage Easter Joys Blog Hop. Here is how I styled my pretty French Country lavender pots in my Bright and Festive Easter Joys vignettes.
These sweet pots are beautiful little vignette accents for spring and summer decor. They would make great hostess or thank-you gifts or would be perfect for filling up a gift basket of garden-themed goodies for a birthday or Mother’s Day gift. This week I am working on a basket for my mom for Mother’s Day, and I can’t wait to share a post all about it. I love making gift up pretty gift baskets!
Do you love Dollar Tree as much as I do? If you find something cute while shopping there, be sure to buy up as many as you think you might want, because cute farmhouse, cottage and French Country style items usually sell out fast. Of course you can always order directly from Dollar Tree online and get great deals on craft supplies in bulk.
I hope you have enjoyed this little craft tutorial today. What are some crafts you have made using Dollar Tree finds? I love hearing from you!
Happy crafting!

super cute, Amber. I thought those were real lavender when I first saw them. I’m a fan of peat pots anyway, they really bring out the “vintage garden” feeling.
April 20, 2018 at 3:36 pmHi,
April 21, 2018 at 4:37 amThis is an excellent post you share here. I love your tutorial and the DIY decoration ideas very much. Thank you for sharing this post. Keep sharing new ideas with us.
Great eye for vintage looking garden supplies. I too love $tree but tend to get carried away wanting to buy too many of those great deals. Your adorable lavender pots are so sweet, love how they look.
April 21, 2018 at 4:57 pmIf you bought those lavender bunches recently by the time we get paid (25th) they’ll be gone at our $tree stores. Will go look tho just in case one of stores has them.. Want to get some of seed pots, those seem bigger than usual size. We have 3 stores, just have to go further to get to couple of them.
Happy weekend
Love, love, love this. Finding craft materials isn’t always easy in my part of Greece, but I’ve been inspired by this to think outside the box and will give it a try in some form or other!
April 22, 2018 at 2:13 amI love these. First visit to your blog, came over from Marty’s. These are great. Going to Dollar Tree:)
April 23, 2018 at 8:33 pmTrying to make some as mother’s day gifts. The seed pots at the DT are only 2 1/4” and the lavender does not fit inside. The pots at Walmart don’t have the same texture but maybe I can sponge the paint on. Hopefully I can make it work since it’s a great idea! I can never think up such things.
April 24, 2018 at 1:39 amHello Sheila, thanks for the feedback! The pots at Dollar Tree must be a different size than the ones I had in my craft stash. I saw the seed pots at Dollar Tree when I picked up the lavender, but I didn’t need to buy them since I already had some in my stash from but I thought they were exactly the same as the ones I had. I will check the website listing to see if I can find the correct size and edit my post. I recently found some more at Dollar General if you have one of those nearby you can pick some up super cheap. They will fit the lavender and have the texture. How many do you need? I have several extras and I would be happy to send a couple to you if you can’t find them. Just send me your address to my email amberlyonferguson@gmail.com.
