A note about last week’s party:
I want to apologize about some technical issues last week. For some reason none of the images were displaying on Thursday, and the party code didn’t post either. I contacted my blog server and everything was fixed by Friday. There were some gorgeous features last week, so if you missed them just hop on over here.
Here’s what I’ve been up to!
Yesterday I spent 3 hours repainting the old shabby-distressed corner china cabinet that was previously in the dining room at the yellow brick home. I actually had no intention of using it here at our new home, but before taking it to consignment I decided to try it in the corner of the dining room and it was a perfect fit! The off white, shabby-distressed finished no longer looked charming however, it just looked dirty and grungy! Yesterday I gave it a facelift with fresh semi-gloss paint in SW Toasted White to match the beautiful paneled walls in the dining room, then spent the evening styling it up for Christmas.
I still have some “tweaking” to do, but tomorrow I will share a post all about the Christmas corner cabinet, with a full dining room tour on Saturday! I am so late on posting home decor, but this whole move and renovation has been a bear! I thank you so much for your patience and I do hope you will stop back by on Saturday!
Here’s a little peek inside!
New Home Christmas Tour?
If I get time this evening I might blog a little just to “vent” about how hard this move has been and why this year’s Christmas decorating in the new home really was a chore, starting with the Christmas tree saga, including the tree lights fiasco the day after Thanksgiving and closing on the sale of the yellow brick home and moving for what felt like a second time just two weeks ago, when we had to clear the rest of the garage and basement out. If I don’t post tonight, I will post tomorrow with a few pictures of things that did work this year with the decor. We are LOVING the new home, but I am disappointed that we didn’t wrap things up in time for the holidays and there has certainly been a learning curve in decorating all this new space. I put way too much pressure on myself to try to “out-do” the yellow brick home, and it just couldn’t happen this year because we simply aren’t finished with the decorations. I have had to refocus and remember that JESUS is the reason for the season and just lay all of this holiday stress down. More about all this in my post!

December 21, 2023 at 4:55 pmI love your cabinet Amber! You’re doing great – moving can be tough! (I only know that because I moved 12 times in 22 years!) Looking forward to seeing your holiday home, and hope you get a chance to vent! 😊 Thanks so much for hosting through it all – I’m linked at #116 this week. Hope you have a wonderful Christmas!
December 21, 2023 at 6:30 pmIt’s funny how a house dictates the decor. Your cabinet looks amazing and perfect with that gorgeous paneling. So glad you didn’t let it go. Thanks for sharing my kitchen niche with my plaid house. This week I’m 17, 19 and 20. Have a wonderful Christmas, friend!
December 21, 2023 at 7:38 pmI’m glad you’ve moved fully into this new home, Amber. It’s so hard moving and just gets tougher the older we get. I didn’t get much decorating done this year as my husband hung all of our boxes from our garage rafters. Great storage but I can’t pull them out and off without worrying about falling off the ladder! But two boxes made it down and that’s what was used. 😉
Wishing you a wonderful after-Christmas and a healthy, happy New Year,
December 26, 2023 at 2:30 pmBarb 🙂
