Here’s what I’ve been up to:

This weekend we traveled to NY to visit my son at the Culinary Institute. The weather was  extremely cold, but clear while we were visiting him and we were able to get his car ready for the NY winter and buy him some winter things he needed for the new semester. I am already missing him but feeling confident he is ready to cook up some great things!

The forecast was supposed to be fine during the time we were traveling but unofortunately we ran into a couple of snow fronts that came in early! On Friday night on the way to NY AND on Monday on our way home we had to get emergency hotel rooms. Thanksfully, the Lord was watching over us when the weather got so bad we couldn’t travel, and HE provided hotels and exits we could safely get to  when we were in the mountains. We ended up getting home a day later, but fortunately we had two snow days to rest up from the crazy travels!

While visiting our son we did a little antiquing where I scored two beautiful 1908 valentines and a gorgeous Belsnickel Santa that looks wintry enough to keep out through January.

My two snow days were spent resting and recouperating on the couch. I turned on my mercury glass acorn lights, tiny fairy lights on the mini-tree and battery operated flickering candles around the room and just enjoyed being cozy, especially since I have been fighting some kind of flu or virus.  If we get another snow day tomorrow and I am feeling better I really hope to share some more of my cozy winter living room.

For now, here are some beautiful features from last week’s party!
