Happy day before Turkey Day! Wow, time completely escaped me during my bout with the flu, and here we are one day before Thanksgiving and I am just getting around to sharing some of my Thanksgiving Decor. Most bloggers and home decorators have already moved on to Christmas, but my friend Debra and I love Thanksgiving so we are getting together today to share one last fall hurrah with a bit of Thanksgiving inspo. 

I have already started transitioning to Christmas using greenery, which is one of the easiest ways to get a head start on Christmas decorating if you are a traditionalist like me and wait to decorate for Christmas until after Thanksgiving. Here are a few shots around the house on this early, sunny Wednesday morning!

Thanksgiving to Christmas Entryway

Yesterday I spent the day adding faux cedar garland to the banister and some little battery operated lights. It looked so pretty early this morning that I was inspired to throw together a Thanksgiving vignette on the little vintage cabinet in front of the stairs.

I absolutely love it and wish I would have done this a week ago!

The small dough bowl has elements that will easily transition to Christmas including the adorable Norfolk Pine mini-tree, candle cloche, pine cones and antlers. I needed something tall in the middle, so I swiped the pilgrims from my kitchen counter. Perfect!

Aren’t these battery operated taper candles beautiful? I just ordered them of Amazon and I am going to buy more. They came with a remote which is the greatest thing! I highly recommend them!

You might recognize the Pilgrims from a previous Thanksgiving Kitchen Tour. I loved this display too!

As you might know, we purchased another old home and we are right smack in the middle of renovations. It can be stressful at times and this week was one of those weeks. The old hymn “Great is Thy Faithfulness” had fallen out of an old hymnal a couple of weeks ago and I had just stuck it on my piano. This morning I got the idea to include it in the vignette, but not before reading the words and letting them soak in. I know God wanted me to read the hymn and to trust Him! His faithfulness is certainly something to be grateful for this week!

I love using hymns and carols  in holiday vignettes. If you have an old hymnal, you can choose to display any hymn of gratitude for a Thanksgiving vignette, such as “Thanks Be to God.”

Simple Late Fall Kitchen

In the kitchen the early morning November light definitely gives me all the old time Thanksgiving vibes! The counters are relatively free of decor and clutter, making way for the whirlwind of messes that will begin this afternoon and last through the weekend! The tom turkey tureen has been on display every Thanksgiving for over twenty years.  

Last year I surrounded him with gourds and pumpkins, but I was late dragging him out this year due to the flu. Either way he is still a sentimental Thanksgiving decoration at our house.

The preserved boxwood wreath just pops against the copper range hood. I love it!

A simple plaid bow makes it look fallish, but all I have to do is change the bow on Friday to transition to Christmas! So easy and classic!

I only bought ONE special pumpkin this year, a beautiful Musquee Du Provence, my favorite! Everything looks so pretty this morning, except the Mod Podge I missed cleaning off the island top from crafting on Monday! By the way catch yesterday’s post about my Elegant DIY Christmas Ornmanent Using Mod Podge and Paper Napkins? It might be one of my favorite ornament DIYs so far!

The ornament turned out so pretty and I think I might use it as a bowl filler or on the mantel instead of on the tree.

The gold and ivory are neutral enough that it works on the mantel right now without screaming “Christmas!”

I didn’t get around to setting up my blogging camera to take photos of my tablescape in time for this morning’s post, but I wanted to share the gorgeous green velvet pumpkin I found on clearance at Hobby Lobby. It’s the only fall decoration I bought this year. I got rid of quite a few other old pumpkins, but I did keep all of my beloved velvet pumpkins. Green is m my favorite color so I had to have it!

I kept the dough bowl simple otherwise, using some of my favorite fall-to-winter elements: various pine greenery, including a new real touch Norfolk pine garland (it’st stunning!) pine cones, deer antlers and pheasant feathers. I added some dried orange slices in for additional pops of orange and a festive look.  Since taking this picture I have added beautiful turkey dishes, place mats and napkins. Today I will wash up my amber glass thumbprint goblets and set the full table.
