Happy Sunday and welcome to another Vintage Cottage Weekend! My friend Debra of Common Ground and I are enjoying getting together every weekend to share all the things we love about vintage cottage decor, gardening and cottage living. Today I am sharing some of my easy diy spring wreaths and door decor ideas.
A welcoming seasonal wreath or door basket is a must for any cottage style home!
This year I created a simple spring wreath by attaching some colorful real touch tulips to a preserved boxwood wreath using floral wire and adding a pretty springy plaid bow.
My side door “mini-mudroom entry way” is a lovely green which is perfect for colorful wreaths or door baskets with green accents.
The outside screen door is also painted dark green, so wreaths also look good hanging outside. The little entry is covered so I don’t have to worry about damaging my wreaths or baskets. Here I used a thrifted cone shaped basket filled with a mix of various thrifted purple and green spring florals.
I added the faux forsythia, purple thistle and the pretty yellow houndstooth and burlap bow.
The following year I used the same door basket on the front door. This time I supplemented faux forsythia and willow branches with real daffodils from my garden and a faux green trailing asparagus fern. The daffodils were in a little vase of water tucked down in the basket, so they lasted a couple of days.
Easy Blooming Basket Spring Door Decor
Later that spring I participated in a fun door basket Pinterest challenge. I wanted to use faux flowers that were similar to those blooming in our neighborhood at time such as dogwoods, pink tulips and various tree bloosoms.
This super simple tulip wreath was made for under $10 with tulips and a wreath form from DOLLAR TREE!
Check out my Easy Dollar Tree Spring Tulip Wreath for the step by step tutorial. I would like to make a new wreath using white tulips. I need to make a Dollar Tree run and see what they have in stock this spring.
One of the first spring wreaths I shared on the blog was my “Bonnie Blue Roses and Thistle Spring Wreath.” I loved it!
I used the wreath for a couple of years then later disassmbled it to use the materials in other bouquets and wreaths.
Just for fun I made an indoor spring and summer wreath using vintage seed packets on a circular wire card display. You could make a similar wreath using small clothes pins to attach the seed packets to any other kind of spring greenery wreath.
I hope you have enjoyed seeing these simple spring wreath and door basket ideas! Soon I will be changing my tulip wreath on the green door, and I will definitley share it with you (as soon as I figure out what I’m doing!)
