Hello and welcome to the Thanksgiving Tablescape Blog Hop hosted by Tammy of Pink Peppermint Design! Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday so I am super excited to be joining 18 other bloggers in sharing Thanksgiving table setting ideas this week! If you are coming over from Far Above Rubies then I know you have already been inspired by Anita’s gorgeous ideas for Thanksgiving. You can find links to all of the other bloggers’ beautiful tablescapes at the end of this post.
Today I am sharing my “Pretty In Pink” vintage French farmhouse Thanksgiving tablescape. Come on in to the dining room and take a look! *This post contains affiliate links.
If you are new to my blog you will quickly find that I love incorporating vintage cottage style all throughout our 97 year-old Kentucky home using antiques and found vintage treasures. When it comes to styling our 100+ year- old farm table for the holidays. I almost always create a vintage French farmhouse style look using what I already have or inexpensive thrifted finds and dollar store items.
Using pink and blush accents however was totally unplanned but I love how it turned out! I had gone to Dollar Tree to pick up some new gold taper candles, but I spotted some pink ones and thought they might work well, since my Johnson Brothers “His Majesty” Thanksgiving dishes have a lot of pink in them.
In addition to the pink taper candles I also found some beautiful pink mercury glass votive holders at Dollar Tree, which got my wheels turning. Even though I love shabby chic and vintage cottage style, I really don’t use a lot of pink decor. Still I decided it would be fun to try something different by creating a “pretty in pink” vintage French Farmhouse Thanksgiving theme.
I didn’t want to spend any more money on this tablescape so for the rest of the table styling I just used what I already had, including the two small French country urns on each end of the table. I have used them in three different fall tablescapes this year and I just love them.
I didn’t have any napkins that looked right with the pink scheme, so I improvised by using some Rachel Ashwell neutral linen placemats folded up like napkins. I dressed up plain hyacinth weave napkin rings using twine to tie on fall leaves with each family member’s initial written with a gold paint pen.
Of course a tablescape set with pink and blush accents calls for a lovely blush wine! But…alas, I had none on hand, so once again I improvised. This “rare vintage” is a combination of cheap cranberry juice watered down with tap water until I got the “blush” I wanted. Hey, sometimes ya gotta fake it ’til ya make it!
Each year I invite my vintage-loving Momma and grandmother over for a late fall tea time brunch, so this feminine Thanksgiving tablescape will be perfect. The salad plates are just the right size for a yummy fall salad, and of course the tea cups will be used to enjoy a variety of teas. By the time we have our brunch the fake wine will have long since been poured down the drain!
The Johnson Brothers “His Majesty” turkey dishes are some of my favorites. I don’t have the dinner plates or the actual saucers that match the teacups, so I mixed and matched by using my vintage Myott’s Bouquet dinner plates and tea cup saucers too.
One of my favorite vintage turkey planters holds some pretty plastic “gold flatware” from Home Goods. The flatware is perfect for an informal Thanksgiving brunch.
On the opposite side of the table a smaller vintage turkey holds a bouquet of dried pink roses. I have several vintage turkey planters but the two I am currently using are my favorites. Their colors seemed perfect for this tablescape.
This pretty French farmhouse table runner with the ruffled edge softens the farm table and adds another feminine touch.
For the centerpiece I filled a dough bowl with my favorite faux seeded eucalyptus garland, fall leaves, small pomegranates, dried bittersweet vine, faux turkey feathers, three white baby-boo pumpkins with gold painted stems and vintage brass candlesticks with pink taper candles.
The vintage brass candlesticks are staples in styling my holiday tablecapes. Even during informal gatherings or during the day I almost always light candles. Any time that is spent together with family and friends around the table is a special occasion worth lighting some candles, wouldn’t you agree?
I hope you were inspired by my “Pretty In Pink” vintage French farmhouse Thankgiving tablescape! On November 13th I will be hosting the “Gather ‘Round The Table” Thanksgiving Tablescape Blog Hop, so please plan to stop back by for more Thanksgiving tablescape inspiration. November 7, 2018 at 1:32 pmAmber, I think the two different china patterns complement each other perfectly, as if they were made to be paired. Most of the pink reads copper on my screen, but it’s a lovely choice for fall.
