Hello everyone, welcome to the Fall Porches and Patio Tours! I am so excited to be hosting the tours and to be joining 21 of my talented blogging friends as we celebrate the beauty of fall together. Fall is my favorite time of year! I get so excited to fix up all of our outdoor spaces for the season. I have been creating all the fall feels on our front and back porches by adding classic fall elements to each one. I hope this post gives you all the fall feels too!
I love all the traditional vibrant, rich and warm autumn colors, but I am also crazy about pale, muted, neutral, and green pumpkins. I especially love fall plants and flowers with cool and moody fall tones. It is nearly impossible for me to choose just one color scheme, so I decided to design two different fall looks for the front and back porches this year. Both spaces are giving me all the fall feels! Now if the weather would just cooperate!
Creating All The Fall Feels On The Front Porch
Welcome to the front porch! It’s hard to believe how fast this whole space came together at the last minute. I simply used some inexpensive new decorative accessories combined with things I already had (my tried and true design method!) Using warm and vivid fall colors mixed with vibrant greens has created a fresh new fall look on the front porch and I am loving it!
Between weeks of rain alternating with unseasonable hot temperatures and the late arrival of pretty pumpkins in our area, I was really late getting the front porch ready for fall. On Sunday I went to Walmart just to check out the mums, and I spotted some trendy outdoor fall throw pillows. I couldn’t believe how perfect the colors were for our porch! I have to admit that I rarely buy home decor at Walmart so finding the awesome fall pillows took me by surprise. For $5.00 I couldn’t resist picking up several. Lots of throw pillows make any space seem warm, comfy and welcoming.
All the fall feels: Enjoying the comforts of home in Autumn
There is just something about fall that beckons us home where good food, togetherness, gratitude, warmth, comfort, and coziness abound.
All The Fall Feels: Getting cozy with plaid
Draping a plaid scarf, blanket or throw over a chair instantly adds cozy fall style to any space.
All the fall feels: Stacked heirloom pumpkins
As it gets closer to Halloween, traditional carving pumpkins will line the porch steps, but all through fall heirloom pumpkins will remain on display on the porch. A stack of beautiful pumpkins on top of old crocks or vintage French garden urns certainly gives me all the fall feels!
All the fall feels: Autumn leaf collecting and crafting
Most everyone remembers elementary school days collecting leaves in the fall for art projects or science class, or simply collecting them during an autumn walk. It is still fun to forage for pretty leaves! I collected a few from the yard and pinned them to some twine to make a quick and easy, organic fall leaves garland for the porch.
All the fall feels: Dried bittersweet vine
I really love dried bittersweet, but it can be hard to find. I finally lucked into some this year and I am really enjoying using it in fall displays. For autumn I have added a bit of the bittersweet and some collected oak leaves to my “shabby farmhouse-vintage-loving-music-teacher” door decor.
All the fall feels: A harvest of fall garden treasures
For several years I have had a Gothic style planter on top of the vintage sewing machine by the front door. I started adding some fall picks to the planter but it just looked “meh.” I decided it was time for a change. I shopped my house and found a medium wicker laundry basket to fill full of a harvest of fall garden treasures.
I needed some type of greenery or filler for the basket but I was stumped. I didn’t really have anything in my stash that would work, so I started looking around the yard for something natural to use. A few cuttings from the jungle of volunteer pumpkin vines taking over our back yard was the perfect choice. Free and plentiful!
All the fall feels: Pumpkins and gourds and mums, oh my!
The colors of all the new fall porch pillows just so happened to coordinate beautifully with most of the free pumpkins and gourds from our own volunteer pumpkin patch. I did use one dark orange faux pumpkin on top of the fern so it wouldn’t damage it. I love how this particular fall color scheme coordinates with the yellow brick and our copper mail box too.
I decided to move the Gothic planter to the side of the porch for a while. I filled it with several of our fresh picked pumpkins and a few gourds from the pumpkin farm. Love it!
All the fall feels: Whimsical and interesting pumpkins and gourds
The Musquee De Provence (French pumpkin) is my absolute favorite variety. I purchased three from the pumpkin farm and they are giving me all the Frenchy fall feels! I love the mottled green and salmon orange coloring on this particular pumpkin.
I am really drawn to all shades of green gourds and pumpkins. This large pear shape gourd is really unique. Any ideas of the variety? I would love to dry it and make it into a birdhouse.
All the fall feels: A cozy fall gathering space for family and friends
The front porch is a wonderful place to relax or socialize with friends and family, especially in the fall. Our three 1920’s garden chairs are actually pretty comfortable with the addition of chair pads and pillows. The green chair pads are perfect for spring and summer, but a bit tricky to make work for fall and winter.
I was super excited to find these fall pillows since they have green in them, which meant I didn’t have to change the pads to a warmer fall color after all. I love the bright fall color combinations!
All the fall feels: Plaid throw pillows
Fall is definitely the time to go mad for plaid! In addition to plaid scarves, throws and blankets, plaid throw pillows are perfect for creating all the fall feels indoors and out. These plaid pillows have just enough subtle green in them to work with our chair pads. I think the mustard yellow in the pattern looks great with our yellow brick too. I also picked up a few coordinating orange pillows. (*If you are on Instagram, don’t forget to share all your fall plaids for #madforplaiddecor!)
The farmhouse fall script pillow is my favorite. Just reading it gives me all the fall feels! What is your favorite fall treat on the list? Mine is apple cider! I also love crisp apples, especially Honeycrisp!
A big bushel basket full of the pretty faux apples I used in my Harvest Fruits Early Fall Tablescape really fool eye. I chose to use faux apples instead of real ones for the porch decor, since there are far too many forest creatures who might want to help themselves to a little fall snack when no one is looking!
All the fall feels: Copper!
Copper is beautiful year round, but it just literally shines in the fall! While I was looking around for mums at Walmart I also found some pretty faux copper pots. I thought they would be perfect on the front porch to tie in with the copper mail box.
I just love the mums in the copper pots!
The Moscow mules (copper mugs) are so pretty for fall, but they are actually designed for cold drinks. With these 90 degree October days, they will be filled with ice cold apple cider since it’s too hot for hot fall drinks. Cadia Organic Honeycrisp “Apple Juice” is actually cider, and it’s a family favorite. No sugar added, no sugar needed!
Sweater weather? Not quite, little critters! In the event that fall weather does finally arrive I have plenty of cute Rae Dunn mugs for serving up tasty and hot fall drinks.
All The Fall Feels: Woodland Elements
The front porch is a magical and quiet place to sit and sip coffee or hot tea while watching squirrel, deer, and birds in the forest. Autumn mornings are often misty and peaceful. In the fall there are several hoot owls calling in the evenings too and we can sometimes spot them close by. Taking cues from nature, I always incorporate woodland decorative elements on the front porch. If you look closely you might spy a few gnomes or garden fairies from time to time.
Our view from the front porch includes a lovely forest. We are surrounded by lush, green woodland plants and fall foliage, so the porch is a wonderful place to enjoy a vibrant autumn show of changing leaves.
Behind the porch privacy shutters are two large burning bushes. Right now they are still green, but soon they will start to turn pink, then burgundy.
This woodland gnome was an early summer yard sale find. I love the fall colors, leaves and acorn design in the base. He is admiring all of the whimsical pumpkins picked straight from our own patch!
This friendly woodland gnome is hand signed by the artist, Tom Clark. I was introduced to these wonderful figures by my aunt who collected them years ago. I have three, and I will never pass them up if I am out junkin’ . I guess I can add these happy gnomes to my ever growing list of “Junk I can’t resist Things I collect!”
The front porch is definitely giving me all the fall feels now, and I can’t wait for the weather to cool down so I can enjoy it.
All the fall feels: Fun and friendly Halloween decor
Next week I will add some “Hauntingly Beautiful” Halloween decor to the porch in preparation for Trick-or-Treaters. If you love pretty and elegant Halloween decor, be sure to come over and party with us at the Hauntingly Beautiful Decor Halloween Link Party! The party lasts all October and a spooktacular time is guaranteed for all! You can find the party here.
Now let’s head on around to the back porch to take look at how things are coming along with the little fall decor refresh.
All The Fall Farmhouse Feels On The Back Porch
Welcome to the back porch and patio! This is the first time I have shown this space on the blog. We have just given the area a little redecorating refresh in time for fall. Actually the “refresh” was simply an act of repainting the vintage patio furniture and decluttering a lot of garden junk that was taking over and making the space look junky, (and not in a good way)! Today I am sharing some highlights from the back porch fall refresh. I will be sharing more of the porch and patio decorated for Halloween for the Halloween Home Tours on Monday!
All the fall feels: Farmhouse Fall Decor
Fall and farming go hand in hand, so farmhouse and vintage country decor works so well for the season. The back porch is actually part of an addition with vinyl siding. The white siding gives the porch a bit of a farmhouse look, so I decided to use farmhouse style elements in the refresh.
I snatched a couple of black ticking stripe farmhouse pillows from our breakfast nook and paired them with my new buffalo check outdoor pillows, also from Walmart! I love the cool and moody fall colors mixed with the farmhouse style black and white accents.
I created a quick and easy fall wreath for the porch window by attaching a eucalyptus garland to a grapevine wreath and adding some dried bitter sweet. A “welcome” cut out sign adds farmhouse flair.
For the door decor I filled a wooden wall pocket full of faux herbs, pumpkins, bittersweet, and a small autumn kale. The little farmhousey sage sign is a nod to the Thanksgiving feasts that are just around the corner.
All the fall feels: Cool and moody autumn plants and pumpkins
Oh how I love autumn kale, beautiful mums, and pumpkins and gourds in cool, moody fall tones!
I didn’t use any autumn kale or cabbage on the front porch, so incorporating it on the back porch and in the garden was a must! I think they are some of the most beautiful fall plants.
I enjoy the beauty of mixing several different kinds of plants with a variety of foliage and textures such as autumn sedum, kale, mums and ferns.
I find design inspiration in the small things. The numbers on the side of this antique tobacco basket gave me the inspiration to use buffalo check pillows on the porch. Oh… can you spot the “real life, tired blogger” design faux pas in the background? One of the pillows is turned sideways and I didn’t catch it until most of the photos were taken Oh well, it is what it is! Come back on Monday for my “Halloween Patio Party” Halloween tour and I will have it right side up!
All the fall feels: Giant heirloom pumpkins!
This huge Musquee De Provence is absolutely stunning! I only paid $6 for it since it had a bad spot. Even though I know it won’t make it through fall, I couldn’t resist enjoying it’s beauty for as long as possible.
All the fall feels: Vintage garden accents
Every farmhouse porch or garden needs a rusty rooster! A galvanized bucket of mums is also giving me all the fall feels!
Fall is a wonderful and busy time for gardeners as the harvest is gathered and new plants are set for the following year. All the plants, seed packets and vintage garden tools give me all the fall feels on the back porch too!
On Friday I will be sharing more of my back porch and patio refresh with a few Halloween touches. I hope you will stop back by for another visit! For now it’s “thyme” to ride along and tour all of the other beautiful fall porches and patios! ( I couldn’t resist!)
Next up is Christy of Our Southern Home. I simply can’t wait to see her classic southern front porch styled for fall and Halloween! You can find all of the rest of the amazing tours in the link up and tour schedule below. Enjoy!
Thanks for visiting today! Don’t forget to stop back by Friday to see more of the back porch. Happy fall!

October 9, 2018 at 9:11 amWOW ! Everything is absolutely stunning! I’ve so got to head to Walmart to find those buffalo check pillows. I’ve been looking online for a few. The heirloom pumpkins are so expensive here. I think I’ll try to plant some next year. Your fabulous skeleton would be a perfect addition to my skull porch this year.
October 9, 2018 at 9:24 amSo lovely, Amber! I love that you didn’t have to decide whether to go vibrant or subtle…you were able to do both! That green pear gourd is awesome; never seen one like that before! Thanks for being the hostess with the mostest!
October 9, 2018 at 9:53 amOh my word, I love both of your porches. The front with all the wonderful autumn colors is amazing and the neutral back porch looks so inviting and restful. You have outdone yourself on both. Thanks so much for hosting this wonderful tour and for inviting me along.
October 9, 2018 at 10:03 amAmber, you started the tour off with a bang! I love both porches with all of your pumpkins, gourds, cabbages, and pillows. Of course, the bike is one of my favorite things. The copper is the perfect element for the mums! Thanks again for including me in this fabulous tour!

I am always so inspired by your beautiful decor, Amber…and your porches are no exception! Love everything…especially how you are serving cider from the old trunk and your Tom Clark gnomes! My husband collects them, too…I’m inspired to bring them into my decor! I can’t wait to show him your gnomes! Thank you for hosting this fun blog hop!

I love how you used the trailing pumpkin vine and your gnome is so sweet! I may have to make a WalMart run for those pillows! I’ll be joining up for your Halloween linky tour next week.
October 9, 2018 at 12:02 pmAmber,
What beautiful porches filled with Fall! You have so many ideas for creating inviting Fall porches, with both traditional Fall colors and with cooler new Fall colors. Thanks for organizing the amazing tour of Fall Porches and Patios.

October 9, 2018 at 12:19 pmWow! Your porch is so fabulous! So many different cute vignettes! Love it all, and I should make some apple cider! Sounds delicious!
October 9, 2018 at 1:19 pmAmber I bet if people driving by your home had the guts, they’d knock on your door and ask if they could take their family portrait on your porch! It’s perfect. I love the bright colors and cozy spaces. Fantastic tour!
October 9, 2018 at 2:59 pmAll the fall feels indeed! Beautiful color and vintage inspiration, Amber! Thanks for organizing another fabulous tour! Blessings, Cecilia
October 9, 2018 at 3:08 pmAmber, you have a plethora of fall bounty on both your front and back porches! My favorite vignettes are the chair with plaid throw and HOME pillow, the laundry basket bounty by the mailbox, and the Tom Clark gnome standing guard over the bounty on the porch floor. Those little gnomes were like the Hummel figurines….very expensive at the time of original production. You have some great ones. Very nice assortment of pumpkins too! Thank you so much for sharing your creativity and organization for this tour!
October 9, 2018 at 3:40 pmWhat an amazing tour, Amber! You are the woman! 😉 Love all the different pumpkins and mums! And that HOME pillow is adorable, too!

Amber, Your styling always takes my breath away! I love the colors you used on both porches! Your DIY leaf garland is brilliant! Love the pillows, pumpkin stacks and how you used the pumpkin vine cuttings as filler, again brilliant! You inspire me so much!
October 10, 2018 at 9:39 amYour fall porches look so cozy and inviting!!! Giving me all the fall feels!!! I love the way you made the garland with the leaves! Such a creative idea! Thank you so much for organizing this tour and inviting me along!
October 10, 2018 at 1:06 pmwow Amber, your porches are gorgeous! you’ve totally outdone yourself! so much to love, especially the beautiful plaids. that green antique sewing machine is amazing!
October 11, 2018 at 1:03 amThank you Debra! I didn’t expect any of it to come together the way it did. I wasn’t even planning to show the front porch at all! That Walmart trip was serendipitous (that might be the first time anyone has ever said that! haha). I never go due to the crowds and I didn’t even realize they had cute stuff now. I was just running to the garden center and spotted all that plaid before I got through the doors! Then I found those pots and Moscow mules, so maybe I should start browsing the website! Anyway this is my favorite fall porch decor ever. The back is cute, but the front really does have “all the fall feels!”
Thanks for stopping by!
October 11, 2018 at 6:48 pmAmber, your front porch is so magical and beautiful. The muted colors mixed with your typical fall colors is gorgeous. I could seriously live on this porch right now. So many beautiful touches. Having access to real bittersweet must be amazing. Love yo ur front door and not your typical wreath. I am going to get some mule mugs next fall for sure. I have been eyeing them but since I made other purchases for our home I will wait.
Love, love your porch.
Cindy
October 11, 2018 at 9:05 amThank you Cindy! I sometimes think I should change the treble clef but as a music teacher who gives lesson here at home, it just seems perfect. It also nicely fits the oval glass shape. I came up with the idea to just add season floral picks or natural cuttings throughout the year to the basic grapevine and boxwood base I made for it.
Oh how I wish I had access to the bittersweet! I found it in a local vintage shop!
I also put off the Moscow mules for a long time, but they were less than $5 at Walmart so I figured that was probably a great deal.
Thank you so much for stopping by!
October 11, 2018 at 6:39 pmAmber, there is so much eye candy to take in! Both of your porches are beautifully dressed for autumn, also m6 favorite season! The vibrant colors are so inviting with all of the amazing details that you have introduced. I would love to visit with yo7 on either porch! Beautiful!!!
October 11, 2018 at 10:25 amThank you Pam! I truly can never settle for just one theme or color. I love every aspect of autumn. Actually my favorite month is November. I love the quiet stillness of nature bedding down just before winter, the earthy tones and frost on the pumpkins.
Thanks for visiting the tours!
October 11, 2018 at 6:34 pmMan that was a ton of photos but they sure do give me ideas for our front porch. Found you on Blogger’s Pit Stop
October 11, 2018 at 9:37 pmHi Candy! Yes there were a lot! So glad you got some ideas. Thanks for visiting, come back again soon!
October 12, 2018 at 9:29 pmNice Treble Clef! I also love the Fall Words pillow on your chairs. The color combos with the plaid and the green are great. Do you share at the Best of the Weekend Link Party?….
October 15, 2018 at 10:52 amWell yes, I see you did share at the party– and I decided to feature you tomorrow. Congratulations!
October 18, 2018 at 10:47 pmAmber, thanks for sharing the beautiful colors and textures of fall at Vintage Charm! Pinning!
October 15, 2018 at 1:44 pmAmber, loving all the fall feelz!!
October 15, 2018 at 7:11 pmBeautiful! You have a forest, and pumpkins??!!?!
Inspire me Monday
you have done an amazing work with your porch. I’m taking some inspiration.
October 16, 2018 at 7:14 amYour fall porch is gorgeous, Amber… as always! Such a beautiful mix of bright colors… especially love the mums. I remember when my mother grew mums and zinnias in her garden… I didn’t appreciate them because they had no ‘real’ fragrance. Now I love them!
September 28, 2019 at 7:51 pmYour porch is just wonderful! Congratulations you are being featured on Friday Features this week! Be sure to stop by and share your blog again!
October 17, 2019 at 9:23 pmHave a great week!
