Happy March dear friends! Can you believe it is only three weeks until spring officially arrives?  Today several blogging friends and I are getting together to celebrate the anticipation of the season by sharing how we decorate for early spring by incorporating green into our homes.

 

I am so happy to be hosting this hop and to see all of the beautiful green inspiration. You can find links to each participant’s beautiful blog post at the end of this post.  Now let’s get started with the “Sharin’ o’ the green!”

 

 

Green is my favorite color and I love using it year round. I especially love welcoming spring with bits o’ green!

 

 

A couple of years ago I found these cute faux plants and I have used them in so many different ways during spring and summer.

 

 

Last year I used the faux shamrocks in a vintage St. Patrick’s Day vignette along with a cute little vintage March (my birth month) figurine.

 

 

 

 

This year I am using the faux plants in a dough bowl centerpiece on our dining room table. I just started working on this early spring tablescape and I am loving how it is coming along. Just a couple of days ago I found the perfect green and neutral placemats at a local shop for only $1.90 a piece! I will be sharing the finished tablescape complete with dishes on Friday as part of the Spring Tablescape Blog Hop.  The week long hop started today so you can head on over to our host Celebrate and Decorate to check out some beautiful spring tablescape ideas.

 

 

I also found some pretty, faux “real touch” white tulips  at the same local shop where I purchased the place mats. I placed them in a vintage crock (recent thrift score) in the center of the dough bowl and filled the rest of the dough bowl with faux plants, moss, antlers and other spring woodland and garden treasures.

 

 

 

 

 

Now that March has arrived it is time to bring out all the little mossy nests and birds that were hibernating in totes all winter. Mossy nests and moss spheres are perfect for adding a little bit of green to spring vignettes.

 

 

 

 

I love the simplicity of this green and neutral tablescape with organic elements for early spring. As the season progresses I will add more pops of color, but for now this color scheme is perfect for winter-to-spring transition.

 

 

Some faux plant stems in a large glass demijohn add a pop of green to a corner of the dining room.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I went to the grocery store to buy some real shamrocks but they won’t be in until later this week. For now my faux shamrocks in a rusty little olive bucket bring a festive St. Patrick’s Day touch to the table.

 

 

 

 

 

I have just started adding more green decor to the living room through a few faux plants and green vignettes. The green velvet pillows that have been out all winter on the linen arm chairs will remain for a couple of more weeks.

 

A stack of favorite books in various shades of green adds a little color to our overall neutral color scheme.  The books will provide plenty of inspiration while enjoying a hot cup of tea and snuggling with a cozy blanket during the colder days of March.

 

 

The March woodland and garden theme continues with a styled tray of green treasures on our vintage trunk-coffee table. I shopped my house and came across the vintage Non-Flowering Plants botanical book which was the inspiration for the vignette. I created a little woodland “terrarium” in a  hurricane candle lamp with faux ferns, bracken and moss. A glass demi-john is filled with green pussy willow branches from Dollar Tree.

 

 

Along with the book, bottles and hurricane lamp terrarium,  I grabbed a clump of faux thyme, a couple of rusty old green door plates, a vintage green bottle, two green vintage flower frogs, and a bird in a mossy nest nestled in a repurposed vintage wall light fixture piece.

 

 

 

This book was given to me by the librarian at my son’s school who happens to read my blog too. She knows I love vintage junk, so she sent home several vintage books during the library renovation last year.  Non-Flowering Plants is so groovy inside and out!

 

This vintage Flowers book was another library hand me down. Love it! Gimme all the vintage green gardening and plant books!

 

The pictures in the Non-Flowering Plants book are so interesting. How perfect for a green woodland vignette!

 

 

 

 

 

This pretty bird picture was cut out of an old book. I won Linda’s (Itsy Bits and Pieces) vintage green ephemera giveaway and the picture was part of the lot! I just received the package a few days ago so I haven’t had a chance to play around with the rest of my  green treasures yet, but I will definitely be sharing them in upcoming posts as I add more green around the house for spring and St. Patrick’s Day.
