Hello friends…it’s (almost) fall! Just today I created this cute fall dough bowl display for The Thrifty Chicks Bloggers September challenge: “Vintage Hardware.” This was a super quick design that was really fun to put together. I am really concentrating on easy fall decor using what I have and just a few fall accessories, so this project was perfect. *This post contains affiliate links.
I am using green, yellow and gold for my early fall decor so this dough bowl vignette is wonderful fall accent on the large vintage buffet in the living room.
I began by lining a small dough bowl with a seeded eucalyptus garland then placed a set of adorable set of six colorful pumpkins from Antique Farmhouse on top. *The pumpkins were provided by Antique Farmhouse for review. All opinions are my own.

Rustic Wooden Dough Bowl-Batea-Extra Long-Natural
I love the simplicity of this dough bowl styling. The colors are perfect for early through late fall.
But seriously…these adorable little French pumpkins!!!!
Even though the display looked pretty as it was, I thought it would be fun to alter it a bit for this challenge. After I arranged the pumpkins and eucalyptus I simply shopped my vintage stash to find some old hardware to add in the display. I have plenty of old junk and vintage hardware in my stash! I previously made a vintage door knob and hardware wreath for the Thrifty Chicks July “unusual wreaths” challenge.
Knock Knock Vintage Door Knob and Hardware Wreath
There was no rhyme or reason to my design. I just stuck the hardware here and there between the pumpkins.
For an instant touch of vintage, just add an old key or vintage style charm.
I wanted some type of unique “welcome fall” sign, so I came up with the idea to write on a couple of super cool antique door plates with yellow chalk.
The door plates have a wonderful yellow and green rusty patina which is just perfect for my early fall decor.
This blue vintage door knob is one of my favorites. I love how it looks mixed in with the eucalyptus.
Here I have added a vintage pheasant door stop to the vignette. Although I normally reserve my pheasant decor until late fall, this year I changed things up a bit and decided to use pheasants all through fall.
The inspiration to use pheasants in early fall decorating came from an old print I found online. This week I also made this antique reproduction calendar using the print. I will be sharing a tutorial post with several different printables next week.
The door stop pheasant has lighter colors which complement the dough bowl display and the rest of my fall decor beautifully. Oh, the little green pumpkin is my favorite by the way!
A trio of pheasant feathers stuck in a rusty bed spring added a whimsical finish to the dough bowl display.
Well there you have a quick and easy junk-n-pumpkins fall dough bowl display! Putting out a few cute little pumpkins mixed in with some vintage goodies is such easy fall decor. You can make a similar display using any type of fall leaves or faux pumpkins and some old hardware. If you don’t have a dough bowl you can use a tray or wooden box. Other than gathering materials up, it only took about 3 minutes to fix up the dough bowl.
Quick, easy, vintage fall decorating…my favorite! To see more of my dough bowl and more vintage style, easy fall decor including other thrifty fall DIY’s, check out my Vintage Cottage Style Early Fall Home Tour.
