Simple Spring Decor with Pops of Color

Spring has sprung (despite the lingering snow!) so it’s time to check out some simple spring decorating ideas with pops of color to brighten up our homes for the season.

This week I am excited to join several amazing bloggers for the Bloggers’ Best Spring Home Tours, graciously hosted by  Lynn at Living Large In A Small House and Amy Sadler Designs. You will find links to all of the amazing spring tours at the end of my post.

Simple Spring Decor Around the House

This year, it’s all about using what I already have in new ways and mixing seasonal spring decor with every day items, as well adding pops of color to welcome the season.

Starting off in the kitchen will give you an idea of the simple, colorful and cheerful vibes I am enjoying around the house this spring. When it comes to simple spring decor in the kitchen, it’s all about making things light and bright after a dreary and cold winter! I am keeping things simple with a spring styled tray on the island that can be easily moved for cooking, and some seasonal additions to my beloved French farmhouse basket tray in the corner.

I promised myself I wasn’t going to any new spring or Easter decor this year, so I am just using all of my older spring decor in new ways along with my every day decorative accessories. This year a mossy bunny has hopped onto the kitchen island from the living room, where he was part of a spring coffee table vignette last year.

Since our island is rusty red, and I am also keep my rusty velvet drapes and pillow covers in the living room for most of the year, using vivid tulips and other “warm” and bright spring colors works really well in our home. Turning right around from the island and looking back into the living room, you can see how I have used the same kinds of colors in the living room create a visual cohesive flow from room to room.

Here’s just a quick peek in the living room with a similar color scheme. I really don’t want to stress or spend money on changing my dark rust velvet drapes or my favorite Pottery Barn pillow covers every season, so I found a way to make them work for spring through the warm and bright spring accents I have incorporated.

Of course a few softer traditional spring colors still work beautifully, as in this sweet vignette on the mantel.

I’ll share more of my spring living room mantel on my upcoming spring Seasonal Saturdays post.

Back in the kitchen, I am just loving all of the bright and sweet glimpses of spring after what seems to have been a never ending winter. I’ve added pops of color to just about every corner. You can see a glimpse of another spring vignette on the counter to the right.

I styled a very simple farmhouse spring vignette to the right of the stove. A vintage yellow McCoy vase holds some pretty tulips (can you believe these came from Dollar Tree?) I added small spring touches here with a little burlap bunny pick tucked down in the trailing plant and a couple of burlap carrots.

This spring I am really “feeling” yellow, especially since the daffodils and forsythia are in their prime right now. For a floral focal point in the corner, I simply switched out my winter Norfolk pine branches in the large green demi john for faux forsythia, wispy greenery stems and willow branches.

I gave my favorite farmhouse bunny a new yellow velvet bow for the season. He is surrounded by mossy eggs, and a tasty carrot. Colorful spring gardening books are pretty accessories in the basket, but easy to grab when I am wanting some inspiration.

My mini lemon cypress tree has survived indoors since Christmas! I am getting ready to plant it outdoors as a centerpiece in a spring pot surrounding by pansies. For now it looks cute as an “Easter” tree with a few small Easter eggs nestled in the branches. Simple spring decor!

Paperwhites bloom a little later in spring here, so I’ll keep my faux paperwhites out a little while longer, along with my favorite farmhouse paperwhites sign on the range hood.  A little yellow chick and tiny eggs add touches of whimsy to the paperwhites pot.

Spring Dining Room Preview

I am saving my full spring dining room tour for the upcoming Seasonal Saturdays post, but I wanted to include a few highlights on today’s tour.

I love what you did here, Amber! The bright colors all through your house give it such a cheerful and welcoming vibe! I especially love your trays and the bunnies. The tulips on your island tray are stunning, and I’m a fan of using warmer colors for spring as well! It’s cozy and inviting at the same time! And I absolutely love your chandeliers above the island and dining table! They are stunning! Thank you for sharing your beautiful home!

Thank you, Kate! Both chandeliers were thrifted finds. Even though they match, I found them about three years apart and I scored both for under $100 total!

      Thanks for visiting. Happy spring!
