Happy Wednesday friends! I am feeling a little blue today…and that’s a good thing! Last week I had so much fun working on my post, “2020 Interior Design Forecast: Expect a Blue-tiful Year!” and I just haven’t been able to stop pinning pretty blue decor since! Today I wanted to continue the blue-tiful inspiration by sharing highlights from my Beautiful Blue Decor and Treasures Pinterest board. If you love blue or if you are just wanting to get in on the color trend and gain some ideas for decorating with blue, then get ready to pin away! *This post contains affiliate links.
Blue has been making a comeback as an accent color for a few years in farmhouse and cottage decor. Actually, blue is so timeless it never really left.
If you read my 2020 interior design forecast post or if you have been paying attention to design trends on Pinterest, blogs, Instagram and magazines then you already know that classic blue is going to be huge this year in decor.
This vintage Ralph Lauren ad from the 80’s has many style elements that we will be seeing pop up all over the place again in home decor this year. Blue patterned wallpaper, furnishings and quintessential chinoiserie blue and white pottery will all be making a comeback, although chinoserie and blue and white patterns have been “on trend” for centuries.
While classic blue is the 2020 color of the year, I am loving various shades of french country blue and teal blue that were extremely popular during 1980’s and 90’s. Again, these colors are really timeless and have never really gone out of fashion, especially in French style homes.
You will find a variety of pins on my beautiful blue Pinterest board. If it’s beautiful and if it’s blue, I pin it!
If I come across something blue that is French or vintage blue, I definitely pin those too!
For the past couple of years I have been drawn to blue more and more. Last summer I used blue in my summer decor for the first time and it was a fun change.
A Colorful Vintage Cottage Style Summer Home Tour
For many years I was a bit opposed to blue decor after growing up with home full of “country blue and mauve” during the 1980’s. Although I didn’t decorate with blue per say, I could never pass up blue transferware!
Ok just gimme all the blue transferware (and vitnage blue linens, tea towels and dish towels while you’re at it!)
Frenchy Blue ticking and toile is a winning combination every time!
Now that I have taken more notice of blue I am totally smitten. I especially love blue as an accent in French style homes with overall neutral color schemes.
Although I probably wouldn’t do a whole room in blue, I think blue dominant rooms can be striking!
My favorite color is green so I love the use of a mix of green decorative accents with a blue piece or two.
I am mostly drawn to blue patternes. This fabric is divine on an antique reupholstered settee is divine!
Classic blue just has such a stately and upscale look when used along with fine antiques and furnishings.
On the other hand, the weathered patina of an old blue piece of furniture has an old world, romantic elegance. Swoon!!!
Sweet blue flowers, a chippy blue stool and blue textiles…perfection!
Soft “bleu” is so serene, dreamy, and so French!
I am not one to follow trends but I can’t deny it…I am totally smitten by all things blue right now! I can’t wait to go junkin’ for vintage blue treasures of all kinds!
Luckily last year I followed my instinct and vintage loving heart when I purchased some fabulous vintage blue dishes, Delft pieces and linens. I didn’t know blue would be trending, and I didn’t care. I just knew I loved those treasures. Now I can’t wait to use them in my spring decor!
One thing’s for sure, I will be using my blue pottery and fresh flowers all through spring and summer.
Spring flowers and blue chinoiserie? Yes please!
After working on this post and my 2020 forecast, I’ve decided there’s no need to wait until spring. I might just brighten up my winter home with a chinoiserie planter and fresh flowers this weekend!
Well did you find some lovely blue pinspiration here today? If you enjoyed this post then you definitely will want to follow my Beautiful Blue Decor and Treasures board on Pinterest. There are are so many more images there to pin away and I know I will be pinning more blue like crazy over the next few months.
What about you, are “feeling blue” too? I love hearing from you dear readers! Thanks for visiting today!

I really enjoyed this post. Definitely a winter blah fighter. I have embraced blue a lot more in the last few years. A good 10-15 years ago, a (now late) friend introduced me to her love of cobalt glass and flow blue plates. I have collected cobalt (goes so well with my milk glass, too!) and blue transfer ware since. Think some faux spring flowers need to bloom in some containers–very soon!
January 16, 2020 at 8:11 pmAmber, after looking at all the pictures I just realized I’ve been collecting blue vintage and thrift store items this last year. I think I was bitten by the blues-bug!
January 20, 2020 at 9:01 pmI even pinned the most amazing blue iris, and have given serious thought to planting some in the garden.
Amber,
Back home now from my Panama Canal cruise with aunts and uncles and catching up on reading your posts. Since I am a blue-and-white lover, this is one of the first posts I read since getting home. Thanks so much for featuring my bluebonnets’ post in your blue and white pin away Wednesday.

January 29, 2020 at 2:20 pmI love blue and white, it’s so timeless. I decorated my kitchen in blue and white 25 years ago and it’s still in style. Gorgeous ideas!
