Happy Fourth of July, and welcome to Thursday Favorite Things! I am so happy to be joining Katherine at Katherine’s Corner and a wonderful group of blogging friends as a co-hostess for this fantastic weekly link party for bloggers and blog readers too! If you are looking to grow your blog, make new friends, and be inspired each week, this is the place to be. *Bloggers: If you would like a chance to be featured, please leave me a comment with the number of your link up. We can’t wait to see what you have to share this week! (If you missed last week’s party you can find it here. To get the party started, let’s take a look at what I have been up to recently:
Upcycle Vintage Chair Spindles Into Farmhouse American Flags
On Tuesday I shared how I upcycled some salvaged vintage chair spindles into farmhouse style American flags. This was such a fun and easy craft and it only took a few minutes to make them!
I will definitely be looking for more spindles to make some different kinds of flags in the future. Check out the post for all the details!
I didn’t get to finish up all the blog posts that I hoped to share this week due to an unfortunate accident during dinner on Sunday night. The black shelf that has been hanging on the wall in the breakfast nook for over three years suddenly fell just as we sat down to dinner. Several pieces of vintage ironstone were broken, but luckily no one was hurt! It took a few days to get everything back in order, but all is well now.
A few of the broken ironstone dishes were able to be glued and salvaged, (what’s a few more cracks and chips it comes to vintage ironstone?) and now that the shelf is hanging more securely and everything is back in place, there was really not much harm done. You can read more the story and find some tips for hanging heavy shelves and artwork in my post, The Great Breakfast Nook Shelf Disaster of Summer 2019.
In less than two weeks we will be leaving for the beach! With coastal vibes on my mind, this past week I have been adding a few more beachy and coastal touches around our home. I plan to share a late summer home tour when we return from the beach, and hopefully I will have some new treasures from my trip to share too.
The antique china cabinet that I have been giving you sneak peeks of over the last two weeks is completely finished! It is in it’s forever home in the dining room filled with my favorite antique dishes. The makeover reveal post with more pictures will be live on the blog in the morning!
Now it’s time for some beautiful features from last week’s party!

July 4, 2019 at 9:35 amSorry to hear about your shelf. Glad no one was hurt! I remember a party we had where everyone had just sat down at the fully laden table when the table leg broke. Luckily the table settled gently onto everyone’s laps! I’ve joined this week at #47.

You are so lucky no one was hurt when that shelf fell! At least the only things broken were a few dishes! I had a shelf fall and it had all my grandmother’s blue canning jars on it! Some were even purple. None of them survived the fall, but I learned from that episode that they are just things. Thank you, by the way, for featuring my Betsy’s Sweet Land of Liberty. I appreciate it so much! Happy 4th of July!
Hugs,
