Early Fall Vibes at TFT

Happy AUGUST and welcome to TFT! This is my FIFTH year co-hosting this fabulous weekly link party for bloggers and blog readers with Katherine of Katherine’s Corner and a fantastic group of bloggers! We recently celebrated the 600th TFT! Please hop over to Katherine’s after linking up to congratulate her on the milestone and to thank her for starting this wonderful party.
NOTE: The party time has changed to 9:00 a.m. MDT (11:00 EST)

Here’s what I have been up to:

We are getting settled into our new home, but still have SOOOOO much junk left at the yellow brick home to go through, purge or move here. The basement and garage have not been moved yet. I figure we have about 2-3 weeks of work left just getting everything left sorted and moved. Meanwhile, I have added some early fall touches to the new living room! I have never brought out pumpkins in August before, but I am participating in the Bloggers’ Best Home Tours on Sept. 5th and I need to start “fall-ifying” our new home now! Also, we are moving our son to culinary school in New York next week, so there really won’t be time to do fall decorating in the next two weeks. I am not minding seeing the pumpkins early though. There’s only a few, and the fall touches are making our new home feel that much homier!

I am loving these realistic yard sale orchids that I placed in a thrift store brass urn. I think they will be beautiful year round! You can also see this week’s project which is giving the fireplace a facelift by adding trim and mouldings to tie in with the rest of the house.  What you see here will not be how it ends up looking though. We have decided to make the side columns a little wider, so my husband is starting over. Bless his heart, he works so hard! It always turns out beautiful in the end! I am really hoping to wrap up this project up soon though so I can share the fall fireplace on my fall home tours.

While waiting to see the new home decorated for fall, here’s a throwback from one of my favorite fall tours:

When I am feeling a little stuck or uninspired, it’s fun to look back at things I have done in the past and see what ideas I can borrow from myself or change up a bit. I know it sounds crazy that I wouldn’t have tons of ideas for the new house, but sometimes a new space can be challenging!

Now it’s time for some beautiful features from last week’s party!

Thank you SO much for the feature, Amber! I’m going to look at your fall tour again, because I always love those mini ‘pumpkins’, and I need to find some. I think you gave me a link on that tour! Thanks for hosting each week, and I’m at 75 and 76 this week. I had to link up at one of the other hostesses’ blogs because I don’t see the Inlinkz code on your page.
