Cozy Winter Decorating Ideas

Embrace the warmth of hearth and home during the long winter months with cozy winter decor!

Welcome to a fun winter blog hop where my blogging friends and I are sharing how we are “Keeping it Cozy” in our homes during the long, cold months of winter.  You will find many other creative ways to keep it cozy this winter by visiting all the lovely hop participant’s posts at the end of this post.

We are having a real winter here in KY with two big snowfalls already this January! “Keeping it Cozy” and staying indoors is what I’m all about! Today I will show you a few of my easy go-to decorating tips for creating a cozy and beautiful winter home

Add Plenty of Cozy Blankets and Pillows

If you and your family prefer to hibernate through the long months of winter like I do, you’ll want to keep plenty of cozy pillows and throws close at hand. Neutral textiles have a particularly calm and cozy look after all the festive colors of holiday decor.

Neutral plaid blankets or chunky knit throws are wonderful for snuggling up with a cup of tea or a good book.

Green is also a neutral in my decorating book so I use green pillows year round.

Add Rustic and Woodsy Elements

As you have seen above, I love using deer themed decor and rustic woodsy elements year round. Greenery, little pine trees, pine cones, birch logs and antlers are using in various vignettes and displays in each room.

The deer are plentiful in the forest across the street and we enjoy watching them play in the snow during the winter months. This definitely influences my decorating.

After Christmas I easily transitioned my adopted vintage lawn deer in a French basket to winter by removing the orange slices, red berries and plaid ribbon.

I added fairy lights for extra winter magic and coziness.

In previous winters my lawn deer has bedded down for winter in a giant dough bowl filled with winter evergreens on the shabby antique sideboard.

In the past I have used the French basket on the farm table for winter styled with rustic and woodsy winter elements.

Last year I used a small dough bowl filled with winter evergreens, antlers and a trio of battery operated candles.

Keep it Cozy with Greenery, Lights, and Candles

After Christmas I always leave some greenery little trees and garlands with lights to create a cozy ambiance during the January and early February. Candles real or faux really make things seem super cozy.

Battery operated candles have come a long way. I love the cozy feeling they create and keep them on non-stop during winter.

Little battery operated candles and white lights can be found in every nook, cranny and corner of our winter home.

In recent years I have discovered the beauty and ease of sweet little battery operated lights. I love how they look on little this little tree beside my primitive snowman in the breakfast nook.

Warm Up by Dreaming of Spring Using Winter Plants and Flowers, Fresh or Faux

Your home is exactly where I’d like to hibernate during winter. And I think having a deer theme is perfect! Not many people can say they like to watch deer from a forest across the street! Thank you so much for inviting me to participate. So many beautiful photos to pin.

I’m in love with every single detail of your warm and cozy home this winter. The greenery you used throughout has made such an impact and of course, the paperwhites are my very favorites. I can’t believe I’ve never tried growing them before, but it’s definitely on the list of things to do next year. Thank you for the inspiration amber, and for hosting the blog hop today.

So exciting that you’re having a real winter with plenty of snow! Your deer theme is perfect, and you have such a wonderful collection of them. How fun that you can enjoy them inside and out; great way to embrace nature in your decor. I’ve got flickering faux candles in my kitchen cupboards, too:)

Love these ideas! I absolutely love the use of deer themed pieces (I live in the country with deer as well), winter greenery, pinecones, and battery lights/candles! I’ve purged some of my more Christmas specific decor in favor of “winter” themed items that can left out through February. Thanks for sharing your lovely home!
