Welcome friends! I am so happy to invite you into my home today to see how I have decorated for Valentine’s Day with vintage Valentine vignettes. I am genuinely so excited to be sharing this post as part of A Vintage Valentine Blog Hop along with seven other vintage loving bloggers! You are in for a real treat today with all of the vintage goodness on this hop! If you are coming over from Laura’s blog, Decor To Adore, I know you have already been so inspired by her gorgeous post. Come on in and take a look around at some of my vintage Valentine treasures too!
As a music teacher I always enjoy decorating the music room for Valentine’s Day. It is certainly easy to create romantic, music inspired vignettes with Beethoven front and center, (a Romantic composer, both in genre and by nature) along with vintage sheet music and some other lovely, vintage shabby-chic treasures.
Cupid has been frolicking around spreading love and adorning the home with vintage lace and other romantic vintage touches.
These sweet, kitschy kissing angels have a love that stands the test of time! In addition to Christmas I used them in A Timeless New Year’s Eve Vignette and now they have become my little kissing cherubs for Valentine’s Day.
Almost all of the decorations on the piano are thrifted, vintage junkin’ finds, including the brocante mirror behind the piano.
Junk is in the eye of the beholder! Everything pictured was someone else’s “junk” but each item is a vintage treasure to me! I would like to take credit for all of these finds, but the precious kitties were scored by my Mom and gifted to me this Christmas. And just like that, my collection of little vintage kittens began! I will be on the lookout for more on future junkin’ adventures.
She also gave me this beautiful vintage plate for Christmas. I love the details on the handle!
The beautiful and romantic love scene depicted on the plate makes it perfect for displaying along with my other treasures for Valentine’s Day.
Rose Bud—Confession of love
As I behold a rosebud
Kissed by the morning dew
My thoughts flee to a fairer—
So I send this one to you
I was super excited a few weeks ago when I came across “Cupid’s Frolic” sheet music at an antiques shop. I knew it would be great decor for Valentine’s Day in the music room!
You can hear a rare recording of this playful 1917 composition here.
After Christmas I transitioned the small tree I had in the dining room into a “Valentine’s Day” themed tree using red and gold ornaments, vintage gold tinsel and mercury glass beads, lace, ivory velvet ribbon, shabby chic winter icicles and my handmade vintage sheet music paper chain garland. I moved the tree into the music room and put it in the corner by the antique organ and a beautiful, vintage gold Florentine table.
I found some gorgeous heart shaped angel ornaments on clearance the week after Christmas. I knew they would be perfect on my Valentine tree.
This stunning vintage Florentine music box is another one of my recent junkin’ finds. I was going to list it in my Etsy shop, but as you can see, I just can’t part with it!
She is obviously reading a letter from her one true love! (I am a vintage romantic at heart.) Just look at her blushing cheeks and sweet smile of contentment!
Antique postcards are so easy to use to create a focal points for holiday vignettes and you will often see them show up in my holiday decor. Sometimes I just display them in a collection as shown here. Other times I use the graphics for inspiration and then I shop my house for ways to create little imaginative “scenes” to match the images on the cards.
To the One I Love
Sweetheart what’er this life withholds
This one thing comforts me
Tho’ much I craved has been denied
Dear Love it gave me thee
I’d like to build a little home for you…
This nautical themed vintage Valentine vignette is my favorite this year. Being a beach lover, I think this antique postcard is just the sweetest.
The nautical “vintage” post card is actually an antique. As you can see, it is postmarked 1910. The little jar of shells was collected this summer on our family beach vacation. If you love the ocean and nautical themed vignettes, you can see more of my shabby chic collections in Treasures Of The Sea Beach Keepsakes.
I also really love this vintage Valentine vignette in the kitchen. I used my favorite “Myott’s Bouquet” vintage dishes, along with some pretty dried roses. Roses of any kind are always beautiful in Valentine’s Day decor.
Every year I style this beautiful antique postcard on a shelf with some of my vintage silver plate collection. The pretty silver glitter accents on the card just seem to pop out next to the tarnished silver plate.
The fair maiden on the card reminds me of a princess. Oh so shabby chic and vintage!
And what is Valentine’s Day without a romantic story of a princess and her prince charming? I love Grace Kelly, so I was excited to find this sweet commemorative pitcher when I was out junkin’ last week. While the love story of Princess Grace and Prince Ranier of Monaco is not exactly fairy tale, she always maintained that they had a genuine real life love of one another, with all of the normal ups and downs that are part of any marriage.
Here are two lovely quotes from the classic beauty:
“When I married Prince Ranier I married the man and not what he represented or what he was. I fell in love with him without giving a thought to anything else.
and my favorite…
“A woman needs ropes and ropes of pearls.”
Well dear friends, it is my Valentine wish for you that sweet cupid unlocks the door to your heart’s desires, whether that be an old treasure chest full of antiques and vintage junkin’ finds, a box of fine chocolates… or ropes and ropes of (vintage) pearls!

I listened to Cupid’s Frolic as I toured your house! I always enjoy your vignettes so much and I bet your students do, too. I especially loved your courting couple plate. I inherited several serving plates from my late mother-in-law. I scored a whole set for $10 yard saling and have added numerous pieces over the years. In the 50’s, many companies used the same central decal and edged the outsides of the plates with different gold designs. My grandmother’s lamps that I now have have the same decal, too. It’s a lovely mix that I need an excuse–like a tea party–to use!
This makes me so happy! I am so glad you listened as you read the post, I had hoped someone would! I would also love to host a tea party! Sounds like a great idea for spring. Thank you for visiting! Come back again soon!
