Happy summer friends! Today I am so excited to be hosting a fun “Patriotic Celebrations” blog hop!  Joining me are eleven super talented bloggers who all love celebrating patriotic holidays and decorating with red, white and blue as much as I do. Patriotic Decorating with Flowers, Ferns and Flags!

When I first scheduled this hop, I had so many big ideas for a patriotic home tour, but I just haven’t been able to pull myself away from gardening this summer to do a lot of extra decorating indoors. After many years of dreaming, my husband is building my garden “she shed,” and we are also having a new concrete driveway and patio poured in just a few weeks, so I have had to completely change my garden layout and try to move perennials to new homes.  Since the garden and landscape has been my focus, I decided to share some simple ways to decorate with flowers, ferns and flags for patriotic holidays.

One of the easiest ways to add patriotic pizazz to the garden or porch is simply by sticking small flags in flower pots, containers or borders. Doesn’t this flag in an old galvanzied watering can among the daisies just evoke old fashioned Fourth of July country summer vibes?

Any kind of vintage galvanized bucket or tub looks great paired with flags or other red, white and blue vintage items in patriotic vignettes.

My annabelle hydrangeas are glorious right now! Here I have filled my recently thrfited large olive bucked with several large blooms and a flag casually tucked in on the side. Notice the vintage blue wheel barrow behind it? I just scored it last weekend at a yard sale for only $5! I had planned on styling it up with flowers for this hop, but it is actually filled with dirt from digging the foundation for the shed. I am sure I will use it in a future patriotic post though!

Since I always have hydrangeas blooming in time for the fourth of July, they are often part of my patriotic and summer decorating in the garden, on the porch and indoors.

Here I used a few blooms in a demi john as part of my farmhouse patriotic styled tray in the living room.

I also love the simplicity of flags and ferns. Simple summer perfection!

I used several flags in a fern as the centerpiece for this fun Farmhouse Patriotic tablescape on the patio.

This tablescape was super fun and festive to put together!

Happy Birthday America!

Not exactly on the flowers, ferns and flags topic for this post, but those little vintage birthday candles reminded me of these older photos that are too cute not to share!

Now back to flags, ferns and flowers…(and watermelon!)

Enjoying the watermelon after styling them for photos was a plus. A big slice of watermelon is just another simple way to celebrate patriotic holidays and summer!

And there’s always (vintage) Coca-Cola! I don’t even drink soda but you gotta have Coke in vintage summer patriotic celebrations!

Using faux flowers with flags indoors is another easy way to add patriotic vibes to any room. My Stars and Stripes Forever Patriotic Tablescape and dining room pictured here was featured in Country Sampler last July!

A small vintage coffee tin with faux herbs, patriotic daisies, and tiny cupcake flags was part of the tablescape.

If you don’t have any ferns, hydrangeas, or red, white, or blue flowers, any kind of greenery will look great with flags. .

This vignette features a few mementos that belonged to my late grandfather. He was my first music teacher, and inspired me to teach music too!

Here are his little band programs from a Fourth of July performance. I love these so much!

If you don’t have greenery or flowers, simply make a bouquet of flags!

You don’t  always have to tuck the flags in the pots or vases. Just a fresh or faux bouquet on the table with flags elsewhere in the room will give any space patriotic flair.

As you can see, it’s super simple to decorating with ferns, flowers and flags for patritoic holidays! Now it’s time to continue the patriotic celebrations by checking out all the fun posts below. Next up Laura is sharing a  pretty fabric scraps flag. I know you’ll love it!

Thanks for visiting today!

Your garden is lovely all decked out for July 4th. Flags just make everything instantly festive and patriotic. We had to prune our hydrangeas last year so just a few blooms. Last time I’ll let that happen. so sad to not see them this year. No wonder you want to spend all your time out in the garden; it’s such a wonderful escape!

This was a super fun post Amber. Loved seeing all of your ideas. Well except for maybe that baby doll. LOL! Can you imagine if your baby came out looking like that with only 3 eyelashes? Just kidding. It was all super cute. Even loved the little paper hat and flag on the other bust. Glad to have joined in. One thing I wanted to mention… You amaze me trying to move and save some of your perennials for the new backyard. I think that’s awesome.
