Outdoor Summer Beauty at Thursday Favorite Things

blogger crafts, decor, recipes, DIY party

Happy  JUNE and welcome to TFT! This is now my sixth year co-hosting this fabulous weekly link party for bloggers and blog readers with Katherine of Katherine’s Corner and a fantastic group of bloggers!
NOTE: The party time has changed to 9:00 a.m. MDT (11:00 EST).

If you are looking for inspiration, want to share new ideas or make new friends, you’ve come to the right place!

Here’s what I’ve been up to!

It’s been a week of tackling the eyesore areas in our landscape and around the garage. The areas along the privacy fence and behind the driveway were overgrown, weedy, leafy messes.

After two days digging out years of vinca vines and weeds, placing landscape barrier, river rocks and mulch, things are cleaning up nicely. It was a hard job and I ended up enlisting one of the teenage neighbor boys to really get in there and dig out those stubborn roots as well as help spread the base layer of river rock.

(Makeover in progress)

This area is hidden behind our cars when parked, but we just wanted it to look clean and tidy from the road when we aren’t home, and also I was tired of getting out of in and out of my car surrounded by a mess! The only problem is, you know how these projects snowball…Can’t you just see some beautiful rhodedendrons or hollys lining the fence in this shady area? Maybe someday!

***We are finishing up this area tonight and I am going to share a short post all about it tomorrow, so please stop back by to see how the driveway hardscaping area turned out!

The weedy, viney and hard to dig area unfortunately continued along the privacy fence. Once I realized how hard it was going to be to plant privacy trees in ground along the fence, I got creative and designed a fun little potting area to play around in. Necessity is the mother of invention, and I have to say I am thrilled with how this area turned out, especially since there really isn’t a spot for a shed in the back yard. I can still have some of my favorite garden treasures and a place to putter around. More about this spot on the blog this weekend!

Wow – that’s a lot of work Amber, even with a strong neighbor to help! It’s looking great, though. I can’t wait to see the final product. And what a cute little potting and puttering area! You are so creative! Thanks for sharing all the fun and great inspiration. And thanks so much for featuring my outdoor rose table – that was so sweet of you! I’m linked at #49 this time. Hope you have a great rest of the week and weekend. See you back here soon!
