Welcome dear readers! This weekend we had a garage sale to get rid of indoor clutter and a few gardening pots and tools, but we haven’t had a chance to start working on “detoxing” the garage. I am so ready to get the garage purged of unnecessary junk! It will be so nice to be able to walk in and easily find what I am looking for. Hopefully we will get around to cleaning the garage next spring and then have another big sale to get rid of the garage junk too. Because I don’t want it to get in such a disheveled state again, I have been making plans and gathering some great ideas for storage and organization. I also noticed the outside of the garage is looking rough and it could use some sprucing up too. Today I am sharing some of my garage goals and great ideas for adding storage, organization and curb appeal. *This post contains affiliate and/or sponsored links.
Before all the fun of adding beauty and curb appeal, the garage has to be cleaned out and reorganized. This round up of 18 Life-Changing Organization and Storage Ideas For Your Garage from Crafts on Fire is amazing! There are so many tips for organizing and storing everything from sporting equipment, to power tools, to holiday and off season decor.
Investing in shelves is probably the number one tip for cleaning and organizing a garage. Whether we undertake making DIY garage shelves or end up buying commercial shelves, getting things off the ground and corralled in baskets, bins, totes or buckets is a definite garage goal for me! Dollar Tree has a variety of these small baskets, bins and containers which are great for garage storage and organization.
Of course, if you’re running a business from home, you might want to use your garage for storing equipment and stock, and that makes a lot of sense – just try to separate your personal items from your business ones so it doesn’t get too messy and confusing. If the equipment you need is too large to store in the garage, such as self dumping hoppers, for example, then it might be best to find an external storage unit to keep it in instead.
No matter which tutorial or garage before and after makeover you find, all of them will include some type of wall storage and ceiling storage .
Jenn at Clean and Scentsible is always sharing amazing cleaning, organization tips and DIY projects. I love how she turn a simple wood pallet into attractive and functional garage storage for sporting goods.
A simple wooden structure is perfect for keeping gardening equipment tidy and out of the way, but close at hand at the same time.
Decorating Your Small Space also shared some different garage storage and organization ideas that I will be using in my garage.
This is quite possibly is the cleanest garage I have ever seen! Labeling each tote is another garage goal! Because we get some water in the garage, I definitely want to get everything up off the ground. I also want to get rid of any cardboard boxes that can harbor mold and attract critters. Totes are an initial investment, but they are a much cleaner choice and will last longer.
In addition to storage and organization, sprucing up the garage altogether is another one of my garage goals for summer. You might want to consider garage door replacement if your garage door is damaged.
Ours in still in good shape, but I really want to build a pergola over the garage door since it can really add a lot of curb appeal. Pergolas create architectural interest and provide a place for hanging baskets too. Painting the garage can also be great for people who are selling their home as it can boost the value by a surprising amount and improves curb appeal.
I also want to add some hardware to dress up our existing garage door. This magnetic garage door hardware has a classic look and is inexpensive and easy to install.
While working on this post I came across Garage Skins and I love the way they can easily and quickly transform garage doors!
I was totally blown away by this one! I love old carriage house style garage doors. I can’t believe the look of this beautiful garage door has actually been created using Garage Skins!
Sometimes, a quick garage door repair is all you need to breathe new life into it. Other times, you may need to install a brand new door. Either option works, it depends on how old and damaged your garage door is. If you need to replace your garage door spring, Google “how to replace garage door spring.”
The owners of this beautiful garage have used corbels and lighting to add curb appeal. Another garage goal of mine is to install solar powered motion sensing lights above the door or on each side of the garage door for safety and security at night.
I hope you have been inspired by the garage ideas I shared here today! Remember the a clean living space and stree-free storage truly adds to the comforts of home. Are you ready to get out there and tackle the garage, or do you already have yours clean, organized and beautified for curb appeal? I love hearing your ideas! Let’s talk garage goals!
