With that in mind, I recently shared a post on ways to incorporate natural interior design by bringing the outdoors in.

    Let’s Party In Hygge Style!

Hello friends are you ready to get your hoo-gah on? Before you think I am speaking in a different language… well, I am! I’m actually referring the popular Danish “Hygge” style and I am crazy about it! (Pronounced “hoo-gah) Hygge is the Danish concept of coziness or togetherness, although there really isn’t an English translation. It is more of a feeling or mood which is created by celebrating all things cozy and natural. It is one of the biggest design and fashion trends today, but really many of us have been incorporating Hygge style and way of life for many years without even realizing it, especially in the fall and winter months.

Savory warming foods, hot coffee and tea or rustic and natural textures juxtaposed with soft textiles such as woolen blankets, scarves and sweaters in neutral tones all define the Hygge aesthetic.

Hygge living is also about simplifying and relaxing for better health and quality of life.

Yesterday I shared my Cozy Neutral Winter Home Tour as part of the Neutral Winter Decor Blog Hop. I incorporated Hygge style by using natural textures, woodsy themes and other accents to make my winter home feel warm and welcoming. I would love to invite you to take the tour after linking up here at the party today to see how I have gotten my HOO-GAH on this winter!

    Cozy Neutral Winter Home Tour

This week I also shared my Charming Vintage Recipe Card collection and a few pics from my winter kitchen. There are so many old fashioned “feel-good” recipes from a simpler time that are also in keeping with the Hygge concept, such as “Chocolate For Drinking” (Homemade Hot Cocoa).

Collecting and decorating with vintage recipe cards

Since I have been in a Hygge frame of mind preparing for my home tour and keeping cozy during our first big winter snow of the year, I decided to feature a round-up of Hygge posts from last week’s party.  Here we go!

Candles made with birch bark paper with a DIY on CountyRoad407.com

Cindy at County Road 407 shared an amazing idea for DIY Birch Bark Candles. I will definitely be making these soon!

Rita at Panoply shared her November and December vintage junkin’ finds. I am crazy about these little lambs! With all their different neutral colors and textures, they would be beautiful styled for winter in a cozy Hygge style themed vignette.

    Gorgeous soda crate makeover

Debra at Common ground shared an amazing crate makeover with a rustic and woodsy hygge style vignette. Her birch candle and moss in an ironstone tureen is perfect for winter.

Warming cinnamon is a staple of hygge foods and drinks and it also smells so good! Tina at The Healer’s Nook shared about the many interesting using for cinnamon beyond baking, including the medicinal benefits of cinnamon.

Sugar Free Crock Pot Cinnamon ApplesOf course, cooking with cinnamon is wonderful too! I am delighted to share this recipe for sugar free crock pot cinnamon apples by Rosann at This Autoimmune Life. As I deal with many chronic health issues, sugar free eating is a mandatory way of life for me. Cinnamon apples are one of my favorite treats! I will be trying this recipe soon!

Creating a Sanctuary to Hygge with Essential Oils / How to Hygge with Essentials Oils

Using essential oils has also made a difference in my quality of life. I love to use them for cleaning and diffusing. Life In Reflection shared more ideas in her lovely post, How To Hygge With Essential Oils.

I hope you have enjoyed my little hygge themed round-up today! Thank you to everyone who shared last week!

Before we move on to the party, here is what I have been up to recently.

This week I was busy wrapping up the holiday season here on the blog. I shared A Holiday Grand Finale: Christmas Home Tour 2017 which was so much fun! I feel like the holidays flew by, and working on this post after Christmas actually allowed me to spend some more time playing around with my Christmas treasures and trinkets and now I am a little more willing to part with them for another year.

A stunning historic home decorated for Christmas with traditional and vintage style

Although I have blogged for several years on my previous blog  Junkaholics Unanimous, last Christmas I was in the process of transitioning to Follow The Yellow Brick Home and did not post a Christmas tour. Since this was the first Christmas for Follow The Yellow Brick Home, I wanted to share my Christmas Home Highlights 2016 with my readers as well.

On New Year’s Eve I shared A Timeless New Year’s Eve Vignette which all my vintage loving readers will surely enjoy.

Now here are my features from last week’s party:

French Ethereal linked up her readers’ top 12 favorite posts from 2017.  I absolutely loved her Vintage English Candy Boxes!

Although I am a lover of the quiet solitude of snow and stillness of winter, I have to admit this gorgeous photo of some Sweet Inspiring Gardens by French Ethereal has my gardening heart pitter-pattering!

Sew Historically shared an interesting article on Victorian Store Bought Christmas Presents. I love Victorian Christmases as you can see in my last two home tour posts!

Toiles Articles - Victorian Christmas Presents

Debbie Dabble also shared some Victorian Christmas magic with her Victorian Christmas Doll House.  You simply must see all the amazing details! Being a music teacher, lover of the Victorian era, and tiny treasures, I was absolutely giddy about discovering the little music room on the top floor of her “home tour.”

She also introduced us to Mr. Nelson, who is cozy reading his newspaper in a parlor decked with all the finest furnishings of the time period!

I did share a couple of photos of my Victorian doll house in my Holiday Grand Finale Christmas Home Tour 2017. I only showed the exterior because the interior is a bit of a fixer upper and will be getting a makeover during winter. I will definitely be on the lookout for tiny treasures on my junkin’ adventures of 2018!

    banana berry smoothie

As we move forward into a fresh new year, we can all use a little detoxing and clean eating! Due to multiple food allergies and autoimmune issues I must follow a strict diet with low sugar, but I do indulge in nutritious fruit smoothies from time to time. Shannon at Aka Design.CA shared a 3 ingredient Banana Berry Smoothie that looks delicious!

    ChristmasHome Tour

Blogger Lora Bloomquist stunned me with this amazing Christmas home tour full of unique ideas for decorating with vintage finds…my passion!

How cool is her collection of antique and vintage Christmas tree stands??? I am on the hunt in 2018 for pretty blue vintage Christmas decor and some tree stands too. Thanks for the inspiration Lora!

I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas! Since the holidays aren’t technically over until after the New Year, I will still be posting a little more Christmas here on the blog for just a bit longer. This week I was thrilled to have the opportunity to share the Historic Blaisdell House Christmas Home Tour with my readers. This beautiful and historic 1805 New Hampshire home belongs to a former music student of mine, who is also a fantastic decorator and vintage lover. You won’t want to miss this wonderful Christmas home tour!

Christmas celebrations are still going strong at our home and I just shared my Cottage Christmas Kitchen Tour for the third day of Christmas. If you are still in the mood for some fun Christmas decor inspiration then take a look and maybe pin some ideas for next year too!

Adorable vintage and cottage farmhouse style Christmas ktichen tour

Now for my features from last week’s Thursday Favorite Things!

Debra Common Ground shared her “mixed up” Christmas brunch that is totally put together in style! I love how she mixed plaids and red and green transfeware dishes along with other vintage Christmas decorations to create the most festive tablescape!

I also love mixed media, handmade ornaments, and vintage images so I just had to feature these adorable vintage mixed media Christmas ornaments by Ann at Duct Tape and Denim. Pinning this tutorial so I can make some for next year!
