Happy May dear friends! Earlier this spring I shared a couple of photos of the vintage style shears and twine set that I received from Victorian Trading Company for review. Now that gardening season is well underway, I have been using the shears daily to snip fresh herbs to use in recipes and the twine to tie up bundles for drying. I love and use my little set so much that it inspired me to share a post with ideas for using these types of sets for gardening, crafting or simply as charming decorative accent.
Are you familiar with the old tradition of making a pretty basket or cone filled with flowers to hang on a neighbor’s door on May 1st? The tradition holds that you must sneak up and hang the basket, knock on the door, and run away. If you are caught, the neighbor must give you a kiss! Now, I really like my neighbors, but I think I will skip on the kissing part! Nevertheless, I think the tradition of giving your neighbor a pretty May Day basket is charming.
