We finally got our first real snow day here! I really loved sitting in the breakfast nook “taking tea” and enjoying the snowy pines out the window. It was the perfect day to stay inside and finish up packing away all the Christmas decorations and to do some winter styling in the kitchen.
One of my favorite yard sale finds is a collection of charming vintage recipe cards. Over the years I have used them time and time again in seasonal vignettes. Hello everyone! I hope you are enjoying the day and getting excited about the start of a brand new year! I am taking a break from working on my last Christmas post from 2017 to wish you all a Happy New Year’s Eve! Here is a “timeless New Year’s Eve vignette” I just came up with this morning to celebrate the special occasion.
I think it is quite sweet, and it was really easy to put together. Although most everything in the vignette actually is old and does show the patina of time, there is just something about classic and vintage decor is timeless to me!
This year my wonderful vintage junkin’ Mother surprised me with these adorable vintage kissing angels for Christmas. It really was a suprise, because these sweeties are just the kinds of collectibles she loves too. She is always putting others first! I know it was hard for her not to hoard these junkin’ finds! This morning I was just “shopping the house” for something quick to use for a New Year’s Eve vignette and I got the idea to use the figures in a cloche display.
I already had a winter vignette inside this rusty old “cloche” (a junkin’ find, I really have no idea what it is…but it’s rusty, crusty, chippy, white goodness and I love it!) using antlers, chippy salvaged tub claw feet, an old mirror and distressed shabby candlestick. I just added the angels, a couple of ivory bottle brush trees, some pieces of my sheet music paper chain and a vintage watch clock face. I hung one large mercury glass bulb from the top (kissing ball, disco ball or New Year’s Eve ball depending on your imagination) and this little vignette came together like magic!
The clock is not pointing to midnight, but that is okay…true love is timeless!
I simply love this sweet vignette and since it has such a wintry look I will keep it out for at least another week or so. All the chippy, shabby shades of white here are making me a bit excited for some fresh decor looks and home projects in 2018! After experimenting with some color the past few years, I have plans to add even more white and neutral tones back into my home with chippy salvage, more distressed furniture pieces, ironstone, and any other bits of white I can get my hands on. I know that color is predicted to be big in 2018, but I always follow my heart when it comes to decorating. This next year will be about embracing all the things I love about life!

Happy November…my favorite month! Today I am sharing one of my fantastic fall finds—a vintage Native American Indian chalkware statue! I will also be sharing a few other Native American items I use in my Thanksgiving decor and my sentiments on including references to Native Americans in Thanksgiving celebrations.
I was out junkin’ early last November and I spotted “the hunter” crouching down in the corner of a local thrift store. For a fleeting moment I thought he was sort of cool, but maybe a bit too kitschy…so I just kept on looking around and then went on to the next thrift shop. Well, you know how it goes with us vintage junkers! I got home and started thinking about how awesome the statute would be as a Thanksgiving decoration, and I just could not wait to go back the next morning to buy it! I am so glad I did. Now I think he is just amazing!
Last Thanksgiving I styled him beside the staircase on the floor next to my Thanksgiving tree to create a vignette of a daily hunt in the forest. I also put him on the banister for some pictures.
