Friday was my birthday so I treated myself to a little junkin’. First I hit my favorite consignment shop where I found three very old ironstone mugs. I actually went looking specifically for ironstone mugs, so it must have been my birthday luck!
I was in the process of photographing my “new” mugs to share on Instagram when my husband surprised me with these beautiful white tulips, so I worked them into the shot. I really like the way this photo turned out!
Not only did he give me flowers, but he said those magic words I had been longing to hear:
“I saw some yard sale signs on my way home. Looks like there are several in the morning…”
Isn’t he the sweetest???
Saturday morning was April Fool’s Day but my 12 year old junker wasn’t foolin’ around and missing out on any treasures! He actually wanted us to set the clock for 5:30 a.m., even though it was his first day to sleep in for spring break! We had to convince him that we would still find treasures if we waited to head out at 8:00. The junk genes run strong in our family!
He had the first find of the day. How cool is this moon “globe?” He loves astronomy and vintage junk so it was a great score for him.
My husband found an awesome vintage globe too! I found an old bell, a vintage metal paper holder thingy, some old cutting boards and some chippy ironstone bowls…
4 green depression glass plates, a little pink depression glass creamer, 4 brand new decorating books, and my favorite find…
This adorable little shabby ironstone pitcher for my hoard! It is so pretty!
Everything was priced at yard sale prices and I used my birthday money, so it was a really successful junkin’ and Happy Birthday weekend. I hope this is a sign of a good junkin’ season ahead too!
Start saving those quarters! See you next weekend!
