Hello there friends, I am excited to share another DIY dollar store hack with you today! Yesterday I gave a plastic “ho-hum” hummingbird garden stake from Family Dollar a DIY faux copper makeover using paints I had on hand in my craft stash. Recently I started creating a small hummingbird garden, so when I saw a plastic hummingbird garden stake for only $1.00 I figured it was worth a try to give it a quick makeover. I had originally intended to make it look white-washed and chippy, but it turned into an experimental project where I just kept trying different colors that led to a faux copper patina ( you will find all the details toward the end of the post.) I love how it turned out! *This post contains affiliate links.

Happy May Day! Are you familiar with the old tradition of making a pretty basket or cone filled with flowers to hang on a neighbor’s door on May 1st? The tradition holds that you must sneak up and hang the basket, knock on the door, and run away. If you are caught, the neighbor must give you a kiss! Now, I really like my neighbors, but I think I will skip on the kissing part! Nevertheless, I think the tradition of giving your neighbor a pretty May Day basket is charming.
Hello friends! Are you looking forward to Mother’s Day and all the beautiful spring flowers that will be in bloom? I certainly am! Mother’s Day is just a couple of weeks away, so it’s time to start gathering ideas for gifts and activities especially geared toward all the special moms, grandmothers, and daughters on our lists to let them know how much we appreciate them. What better place to find inspiration than in the garden?
Welcome dear friends! Can you believe that winter is nearly over and St. Patrick’s Day is coming up in less than a month? Do you decorate for St. Patrick’s Day? While I am not a fan of the mass produced decorations that seem to be designed for parties, I do love decorating with green and celtic items. I choose to either create my own St. Patrick’s Day decorations or use vintage Irish related dishes, collectibles, etc. in vignettes. This year however I have been noticing some really cute ways to decorate for Saint Patrick’s Day in farmhouse style. If you haven’t decorated for St. Patrick’s Day in the past, perhaps these farmhouse style Saint Patrick’s Day decorating ideas will inspire you.
